peak experience
Hi all,I've just purchased a Queen Mary Brake Van, the Bachmann model. I'm really pleased with it and I think it looks great but I'm surprised at the lack of glazing on what is otherwise a well detailed model. So just a quick question. Has anyone on the forum attempted to add glazing and if so may I enquire as to how you accessed the interior of the Guards Van?
71H
Unscrew the bogies. Underneath there are another two screws, remove them too. There are two clips in front of the bogie screw housings, gently pull one whilst holding the QM body & hey presto ! Remove the weight & now you should be able to glaze your QM ! P.S. my QM is 33-826B BR departmental

RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted April 23, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 23, 2015 Hi there, The lack of flush glazing is because it's one on Bachmanns older models - plus it can barely be seen due to the verandah! To remove the body.... First - remove the 2 bogies and put in a safe place. Second - Remove the body by releasing it from the 2 tabs that it slots into the chassis. You may find the body comes straight off but mine had a small amount of glue that had to be loosened before it would. The inner ends should then be able to be removed and worked on away from the model. Flush glazing - 2 choices.. First - Aircraft Modellers canopy glue. Second - cut and fit individual pieces of clear plastic to fit the window openings. From memory these were cut as 6mm wide strips - then filed to fit for both width and height. There are 2 different window sizes. The fixed windows are 3.5mm wide by 7mm deep. The door windows are 5mm wide by 7mm deep Use canopy glue to fix them in place once yo get them to the right size. Hope this helps! Thanks
