The new Notwork rail 31 is at Rails, although it have appears to have become EH :O Now has headlight fitted but doesn`t appear to have any glass in it!  I still need the real thing too!!

Only picture I can find showing the "ETH" box is this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/steverailways/6115292195/sizes/o/  Doesn't appear on any other pictures I've looked at.

Does this mean they might be doing an ETH 31 next year?  This would be in the right place for some of them (I think it's only in that location on one end for some):

I see they also released 31233 as ETH fitted at one end, which it wasn't.  Only one so fitted seems to be 31602.

Hornby c*cked up the original release of the yellow 31233 by using an ETH fitted moulding.

Previous release of an ETH 31 was 31439 in Reggie Railways stripes. I think the Hornby yellow 31233 had ETH connectors at both ends, but one had a cable and one was painted yellow to disguise it being there.........

Cheers,

Mick

Therein I suspect lies the problem. Hornby used the ETH cab tooling to add the camera etc. fittings when producing 31233 and used the same when producing 31285. Otherwise a whole new cab tooling on a non-ETH version would have been needed, which Hornby probably couldn't justify on cost grounds.
