28XX
This kit looks suspiciously like the Hornby GWR one from 20 odd years ago. A few questions for anyone who has either Is it based on any real prototype, GWR SR or other? Is it really 1:76 scale? Made by Faller? How big is it? Thanks in anticipation
westerner
As far as I know it is based on the one that was at Dunster on the Minehead line, as is the station building and goods shed.
Nergle
Hi 28xx You might like this... So altho this is actually the Hornby kit (made for them by POLA), it's two kits stitched together to make a larger signal box. I built it early last year for a friend's layout.I have added things like a handrail to the upper windows and drain pipes at both ends to make the box a little more unique and realistic The kit should go together easily; paint the lighter panelling inserts and the framing into which they go first and you'll end up with a nice neat line between the contrasting colours The model may not be a perfect model of the original (the roof pitch is very shallow for example), but it goes together well and creates a nice basic structure ripe for some added detail This pic is the viewing angle for this model on my friend's layout - that's why it's the backside Good luck! sub39h
The Fordhampton kits are all former Hornby kits. I think they were made by a third parry and branded as Hornby. Now they are branded as Guagemaster and the same otherwise.
