Rust Effects

Recommended Posts

Dear RMWebbers,

I am a newcomer to Railway Modelling, and so I am practicing techniques.  This was originally a green Lima D2785 Diesel Shunter, I wanted to try my hand at giving it a metallic / rust 'look'.

I have also added some practice transfers onto the loco, but I did not have an 'R' available in order to complete the GWR logo! I am seeking advice on how to further add rust / which area it is most needed on.  I am using the Tamiya weathering powders

The best way to find out where to put rust effects, and any other effects if it comes to that, is to refer to a colour photograph of something the same as (or similar to) your subject. Guessing will result in something that looks as if you just guessed where it should go! :-)
