Gordon A
Divide the overall O gauge length by seven then multiply by 4 to get the length for a 00 equivalent. Gordon A Bristol

Guest bri.s
The layout is 12feet long do By doing the math above it works out at around 6.7 feet I'd go for 7feet or even 8feet if wanting to do it in 00 Brian

Kenton
I would generally round down rather than round up when converting layout dimensions to OO from O - although it should be about the direct relationship between 7mm and 4mm which of course holds true for the landscape and infrastructure it does not remain true for the trackwork. It also is impacted by the use of commercial versus hand built as hand built generally is built to more exact dimensions. At the end of the day the O gauge layout may have had its own set of compression compromises or selective modeller's licence applied. So, these are not really the best approach to layout design, even more so in the case of a real location. It would be far better to start with the dimensions taken from a map of the location then to scale from that before introducing your own compression and modeller's selective vision.
