darren01
Hi I remove old track like this , first push the old fish plates back on to the old point/ or cut through them. Next get some warm water and dampen the ballast and leave it for a while, then use a flat blade lift the point out. Once the point is out the rest of the old ballast out and clean the area up. Hope this helps Darren
Judge Dread
A painter's knife, or better known as a wallpaper striper is the weapon of my choice. No matter how careful you are, however, you must expect to damage something. You must allow for that.

Il Grifone
A painter's knife, or better known as a wallpaper striper is the weapon of my choice. No matter how careful you are, however, you must expect to damage something. You must allow for that. I would agree, but just make sure the something you damage is not yourself - these things can be deadly. Always work away from yourself and keep fingers out of the way! Il Grifone
Don't worry, I'm old enough to remember "Common Sense". It was a general warning, nothing personal! (I've had a few near misses myself!)

RMweb Gold Jonboy Posted May 25, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 25, 2015 Bit more than a near miss in my case - 3" wide wound in the wrist...after a full day of taking care I was lifting the last piece of a vinyl floor tile and angled it a little too close to me just thinking of the damn things makes me shudder these days!!!! I prefer the steel rule these days!
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted May 26, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 26, 2015 Another option is to raid the kitchen utensil drawer. A round ended narrow spatula with handle should work very well. Just don't let SWMBO know what you are doing with it!
