Fat Controller
This beast arrived in Calais on Thursday, and will be transferred (by Europorte Class 92s) to Eurotunnel's Cheriton Yard late Saturday night/ early Sunday morning:- http://www.forum.sttx.fr/viewtopic.php?f=107&t=1644 I'm not sure how long it'll be staying there, before heading towards London, or how it'll get to the 'Smoke', but I thought I'd anticipate at least some of the questions. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted May 30, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 30, 2015 I hope it's in gauge!
Fat Controller
I hope it's in gauge! I'm not sure it is, Mike. I wouldn't be surprised to see it transhipped to road from Cheriton; I suppose it might make it as far as Barking. It was apparently used during the construction of CTRL Section 2. AberdeenBill
A beast indeed... It's interesting that one of the wagons is Bulgarian registered. Bill
Fat Controller
It looks as though it's going by road; I just stopped off by the terminal, and it had been moved to the 'back roads' between the Continental Main Line and the maintenance shops, which have at least one track with road access. Fat Controller
Confirmed that it's going by road; three large articulated lorries, each with one yellow wagon on board, were lined up on the A20 at Longport about 90 minutes ago.
Fat Controller
Latest news, gleaned from our internal 'newsletter':- The wagons are being taken, six or so per day, to Plumstead. There, the train will be re-formed, before a GBRf loco takes it on its way through Crossrail. This is the third time the train has been to the UK; previously, it did the concreting for the track bed for the Channel Tunnel, and then for the London Tunels of CTRL2.
