Decoder settings help class 25

A fellow member has just purchased a Bachmann sound fitted class 25 in green but the loco takes of and the sound keeps trying to catch up. Now I'm no expert when it comes to setting up sound decoders , my limit is being able to change the volume on cv63. So can any one give some assistance on what to do , maybe someone has had one before now and had a play around with the cv settings.

Thanks in advance

Mick

A bit more information on what decoder is fitted ? would help.   Assuming ? it's a Loksound, if the loco takes off quickly, it's worth checking what value is in CV3 - inertia. If it's a low value, increasing it will slow down the take off.  IIRC a common problem with some of the Bachmann sound 25's, was that the loco took off, before the brakes were heard to release, this I believe was something to do with a poor file transfer from V3.5 to V4 versions.

Set  CV3  Acceleration   to  25   and  deceleration  to  15

Try  that   and  then  alter  those 2 settings  either  up  or  down  until  you  get  good  performance

Before  you  change  CV3  & 4  as  above   you  could  reset  the  decoder  to  factory settings   enter  8  in  CV8,  this  will restore  the  factory decoder settings  but  remeber  the  loco address will be  re set  to 3 as well

so you will also have to change CV1  loco address to  whatever  address you  require
