Straining at the leash...

After numerous comments and advice on NGRM-online by members some things have been called into question (and rightly so!). The balloon loop takes up far more space than I would and there are various other suggestions made such as adding a loop at the front of the layout for the narrow gauge. I have even had a sketch drawn up for me for which I am very grateful. I have modified it slightly to show some of the additions - hope he doesn't mind, but it's much better than I could do myself:

The question is, do I go for it?

Having been to a very successful show over at Four Marks with the layout it has given me a great boost - even the exhibition manager came away saying there were quite a few people who had come up to him saying something positive about the layout and how there is some hope for the future for railway modelling (!) I've now got a dilemma - I now have a show invite but I want to get this new layout started. Of course, I could always complete this layout and sell it, but I would feel guilty of selling something with poor trackwork (the only remedy would be to start the layout again anyway!).

No dilemma, Jam, your invite is for Calshot as is, so wait until after the show (i.e. Bank Holiday Monday, IIRC) before making the decision!

Remember Round Table's motto: "adopt, adapt, improve" and you won't go far wrong!

The plan above looks interesting; potential for a lot going on! Two operators? Laptop control? (Both need to be thought about at a very early stage so that you can get the track sections in the right place!)

Glad you enjoyed Four Marks; good friendly show! Welcome to the world of making an exhibition of yourself (and the layout!)

Indeed. I guess so!

A lot going on in the plan as you say, having two operators would be nice - but of course getting someone to help would be another thing entirely. Laptop control? I wish! Seriously though, you may well end up being roped in due to my incompetence at trackwork/wiring/sections etc. wink.gif (You're not going to get out of it that easily tongue.gif) Of course, help would be nice, but I'm sure I can manage either way.

Anyway that's a while off yet. Looks like I'll need to work out how this layout could be operated.

I must admit, coming into the world of exhibiting is both satisfying, rewarding and great fun.
