  1. Hello everyone, this is Alan's daughter Sophia. I'm not familiar with the site so apologies if there's a better place to say this, but I just wanted to let you all know that my dad passed away peacefully last night. He always so spoke fondly of the community here, so it's important to me that you know.

  6. It's always great to get feedback from customers, especially when accompanied by photos. Here's one of the driving carriage variants of kit 111, , built for Chris Bradbury by David Tisdale. Photo by and (C) Chris of the carriage on his layout. The kit is also available as a brake third or with different configurations of the driving windows.

  8. As I am 80 this year I have finally decided to retire. So with immediate effect Nucast at Forest Row has ceased trading. All of the stock of the reissue kits I held is being passed to Brian at Branchlines who is not closing down. The future of the Nucast range has not been decided yet and is currently on hold. The moulds and casting machines are now in storage. We are unable to provide any spares or special orders from the range, or produce more stock. Please contact Brian on 01373 822231 as he's currently experiencing email problems

  13. One of the things that endears me to this forum, as compared with a certain other 'specialist gauge 4mm forum' is the fact that very few people on here make a past-time of assuming the guise of self-appointed 'experts' and thus making a seemingly simple or straightforward job as complicated as possible...

  27. Hello everyone - hope you're all well? I've been away for a while, and it's a long time since i posted here, let alone made anything for a model railway. Here's one of my favourite models from last year, Lee

  29. Hallo! After having been "just a reader" for a few years, I now managed to register myself here. I have done some H0-scale modelling until some 30 years ago, when some job-related moves across the county and decades of commuting demanded their toll. Now I have given up the long fostered dream of a large layout and since a few years I am planning Inglenooks and Time-Savers - alas, so far they never got built. But I am absorbing information and suggestions in forums and in real life situations and hope to make it. I live in Germany but take an interest in both British and German railways and am in fact a member of two British societies.

  30. For each side of my loft layout I'll be doing a travel poster inspired painiting from each of the big 4. This is the first one the Coronation Scot. Next up will be the Golden Arrow leaving Shakespeare Tunnel, then LNER Mallard , finishing up with Achilles (a Dean Single) from GWR

  34. Rolleston-on-Dove, the layout has ended its days as a working model railway. In action recently at the Stafford exhibition, considered to be the high point in the layout's history, proved to be its final public appearance. Its appearance at Expo EM at Manchester in 2018 was another highlight in 16 years of operation. All is not over as the section that includes the carriage dock with all the pointwork remains active, linking the Little Burton layout with its storage sidings. Three dioramas, sections of the original layout are being converted featuring the station buildings, signal cabin and over bridge. These will be used as 3-dimensional visual aids when presenting talks to local school pupils and interested organisations.

  35. I hangout on RMWeb to get the help I need and share my expertise if I can help others. A great example this morning is that I am now able to get loconet detection working on the bridge of my ADM turntable after some deep technical advice from @Andymsa and I made a new friend too :-) .
