  1. Having to consider end of life care for my mum is not what I wanted to be doing this week...

  2. I apologise to my friends/followers/whatever on here for not really updating. I've had a very odd few weeks including my brother getting married and a trip to Corfu that ended with us almost getting stuck there, amongst other things. This culminated in my Nan, who has been mentioned multiple times in my threads, passing away just after I returned from Corfu on the 6th. As such my motivation for railway-related modelling, or modelling in general, has been near enough nil. I thank you all for your patience and hopefully will be able to give some updates when I have some motivation back.

  5. An American gynecologist had become fed up with malpractice insurance and paperwork, and was burnt out. Hoping to try another career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic. He went to the local technical college, signed up for evening classes, attended diligently, and learnt all he could. When the time of the practical exam approached, the gynecologist prepared carefully for weeks, and completed the exam with tremendous skill. When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had obtained a score of 150%. Fearing an error, he called the Instructor, saying, “I don’t want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result, but I wonder if there is an error in the grade?” “The instructor said, “During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark. You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark.” After a pause, the instructor added, “I gave you an extra 50% because you did it all through the exhaust pipe, which I’ve never seen done in my entire career”.

  8. Asked today to get some 'Old Jamaica Ginger Beer'. I told my son that I couldn't find when we were there the other day. He explained that it's in the 'foreign foods' section - and it was. That seemed at interesting take on foreign as it's made in a factory at Kegworth, Derby. Maybe Tesco know Derby wasn't on the GWR?

  11. Was in Ukraine in 2005; small Town called Kolomia. Played with Steam engines for a few days. Went back to Kiev to fly home and visited two very big Loco Depots whilst there. It was all truly amazing and such a wonderful place. I feel for them; how life is changed. P

  19. As it maybe some time before my albums here on RMweb are restored, either by the site's restoration process or by my uploading replacements, you may be interested to know that many, but not all, can be found in my albums on the ipernity photo-sharing website. This link should take you to the rail section of my gallery there. http://www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/album/538609

  25. Has anyone here heard of railway modelling fora? You can take pictures of and write about model railways and post them online for other people who share your interests to see. What's more, everyone can read through and post with just a single login, without having to shoot off to random social media pages that they might not like using. I know a really good one called RMWeb. You can find it here: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php I'd highly recommend joining!

  31. I hand wrote a letter today, I mean who actually takes the time to write a letter who isn't Royalty or sending love. I was going to the Post Office to send back a warranty claim and thought whilst I was at it I should send another item. With no time to get out a computer / printer I simply wrote a note - joined up writing and everyfink. Remembered not to write 'Love' at the bottom

  35. If people keep positing the 'wrong thing' in the Status Update area then maybe there is something a little wrong with the set up between using the PM facility (confidential) and Status (open to public)? Once or twice maybe accidents. Several times a month is showing some sort of confusion as to the way to do things 'privately' ? I ma not clever enough to understand Tech stuff but I can see a glitch.

  36. Browsing Flickr I came across these images of an old rail connected distribution centre, I once walked past in in the four foot and got a telling off from someone who worked there. I'd never seen any images of this place till now and I realised that now I have no-one to share this with as anyone who may have been interested is no longer with me, how sad...

  39. This second image is the reverse angle looking from Gilby Rd bridge toward the A180 flyover. A small scenic stretch as per the prototype between two natural scenic breaks. The staging area is just large enough to take freight trains that are just large enough.

  41. I passsed an exam in meteorology in 1992 and have a thermometer in the back garden so am completely qualified to forecast far more accurately than all the Met Office's supercomputers. The PM programme finally bowed to the inevitable and attempted to fry an egg on the pavement outside New Broadcasting House and on the bonnet of the car of one of the presenters. Thank goodness we don't still have Nationwide which would inevitably have had some hapless presenter from every BBC region also failing to do the same.

  44. Bullock, I have just watched what I can only describe as a pornographic mixed bathing video on YouTube under your name. You even had the temerity to describe one of the bathers as having blue tits. I fear this might also be one of those garden work events we hear so much of. I have reported you to dear Cressida - don't hold your breath. Outraged of Gosforth. Your Class 17 still performing well thanks. Haven't heard much about your replacement model recently?? Best wishes, Iain
