Not railway related but this one made me smile: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electrical-Press-Button-Switch-Metal/dp/B004H8ETJ4/ref=asc_df_B004H8ETJ4/? I'd love to see what happened if you put 240 amps through it; and apparently it can be wifi connected too
  3. Knowing how to use one; some don't know what a screwdriver is (except perhaps a mixture of vodka and orange)!!
  4. Good ro see the first response is a positive one :)
  5. We once bought a bungalow which had a small "Christmas type" tree in the garden. The first christmas we were there we dug it up, put it in a tub and took it in doors. When we looked at it next day it was covered in white insects. It was back in the garden before Christmas day!

I'll just leave this here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395199450860?
  7. I've put my handbag away. :) I for one don't want to be the reason for a thread being locked.
  8. Your previous post You referred to businesses failing, (which I have highlighted). Klien have not "Failed", they have merely closed down. That is the point I was trying to make
  9. I think perhaps you need to clarify your understanding of the difference between a business failing and closing down. Your comment suggests the business had run out of money, which is not the case; they simply made the decision to close down, with sufficient money in the bank to honour all financial commitments, and hopefully something left over.
  10. Software updates, don't you just love 'em. :)
  11. Serves me right for trying to help someone!!! An item I was selling was due to finish about 7:30 this evening. It had been sat at about £6 for a few days but this afternoon I had three bids taking it to £11.50. Around 5 o'clock had a message from the last bidder asking if I would cancel his last bid, item no longer required!! I was out at the time, tried to cancel the bid on my phone but wasn't able to. Got home about 10 min before bidding ended. By the time I'd managed to cancel the bid, there was about two minutes left. The item eventually sold for £6. What I didn't realise was the bidder had put in two bids, Not sure if I did something wrong but both their bids were cancelled, taking the selling price back to what it was before their first bid. £5:50 lost through trying to help someone :)

  13. And so another post which started off as interesting and informative descends into mud slinging. :(

    The colours are similar? :)
  15. I'm sure there are many other definitions, but here are two picked at random: Tunnel: an artificial underground passage, especially one built through a hill or under a building, road, or river. Bridge: a structure carrying a road, path, railway, etc. across a river, road, or other obstacle.
  16. One of he best (and cheapest) investments I've made. My only problem is I keep losing mine, but that's no different from screwdrivers, pencils etc.

Having just read that the Warley show at the NEC is no more, and with the news earlier in the week about Hattons closing, I can't help but wonder if the third bit of "big news" will be that Gostude is to cease trading on Ebay. :)
  18. I guess WCRC should consider themselves fortunate that it's a leap year, meaning they have an extra day to complete the work. :)
  19. I only managed to get to Warley once, in 2022, (tis a long trek from darkest Devon), so am glad I've been able to tick that one off my bucket list. I really enjoyed it, and, as others have said, I was amazed that a group of volunteers was able to organise something on such a large scale. Would agree with what has already been said about how the announcement has been made, "going out on a high", which they truly deserve
  20. Fusion 360 is a good system but I'm not sure I would recommend it for a beginner/newbie. I have used other 2D & 3D CAD previously, including AutoCAD but didn't find Fusion 360 that easy to pick up
  21. From what I remember the argument went something like buses/coaches stop at bus/coach stations not road stations, so trains must stop at a train station not a railway station. (Oh dear, have I just opened the worm can lid again) :(
  22. While I agree with you on this point, I can't help wondering how many people felt the same looking at Barry scrapyard. Building new fireboxes, casting new cylinders, nah, you got to be joking!! But look what's been achieved. So, restoring failed hardware, unsupported software. A lot of the work that's been done on preserved railways is down to retired railway employees sharing their years of acquired knowledge and skill There is a new generation of techies heading towards retirement now, who knows where their acquired knowledge and will be put to use.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404722386950? A new colour here I've never heard of - Amethy
  24. Not sure I agree there. I spent a very enjoyable day on a local preserved railway last week. I had "plain old rides on a plain old train" for a reasonable price Extras for the 2+2 where there if wanted. I would suggest what is pushing prices up in preserved railways is running costs, (fuel etc) and wages.
