  1. Not wanting to tempt fate, mine seems ok at the moment. That looks good @gazzaday did you add additional weathering over Hornby's?
  2. I found a couple of photo's of it, looks an interesting loco to model. What was the story with the drivers window at the front?
  3. Thanks @Phil Bullock, I may renumber to a refurbed example to avoid replacing the trim. I also thought it was around later than that as the only photo's I've found of locos with the modified front end are post 85.
  4. I've got the Hornby model of 31 111 "skinhead" class 31 and I'm looking for some info on that loco or a similar loco I could change it too without too much work, ideally a Stratford allocated example. I notice it only has 2 marker lights on the front end, was this an 80's modification? Could I renumber it to one of the ETH fitted loco's or would I need to carry out any modification? I can't find many photos of that loco, or indeed many in Rail Blue with the front end modified. I'm guessing that as it is, it would be a loco in mid 80's condition. Many thanks. Steve.
  5. James...... How do you get on with any shunting using the wire hoops? And have you ever weathered an 08? some of them were pretty shabby as I remember!
  6. Fantastic 47's James! I'll never tire of seeing your weathering, all very inspiring 👍
  7. Lovely scenic work done on the fiddle yard Alan. You've got yourself a whole new micro layout there! 👍
  8. Has to be one of the most realistic timber finishes I've seen, well done sir!
  9. A very nice wagon there! The interior looks superb, the colours are spot on for old weathered wood. Great stuff 👍
  10. I succumbed to buying a Hornby TXS Bluetooth sound chip at Ally Pally and got to say I'm really pleased with it. It's never going to be top of the range but for the price I think the sound is good and it was easy to install. I do like the Bluetooth aspect but prefer to operate it on my normal DCC system. A good introduction to the world of sound and it has def got me hooked, even if I don't get the full engine sounds on my small layout! 436352232_7419772968116560_7565661485669724512_n.mp4

  12. Just found your thread and had a read through. That's a fantastic tribute, I'm sure your pal would be proud of what you're doing! It is coming along very nicely, the Turbots look superb, and that's a fantastically simple but enjoyable track plan you've used. I'll look forward to seeing some more updates and although I model in OO gauge, the appeal of O is very strong! The bulk of the locos makes it all seem so real, especially when weathered. Keep up the good work 👍
  13. Nice project. Silvertown is a railway favourite area of mine, the years just before it closed were fascinating with mainline locos hauling short trains you've made a good start, I'll look forward to seeing more.
  14. Thanks for that. The article is interesting too, I'll have a read through.
  15. @NS Peak @Hal Nail thanks for your help. The shawaplan catalouge looks helpful as they fo sealed units and opaque marker lights. Do you know if there's any images anywhere, I've tried searching but to no avail.
