Looking fantastic as ever Peter. I haven't been on RMWeb for months due to various reasons so having a hefty catch up today!
-
Cracking layout!
-
Tractor 284 looks in fine fettle Peter. Got any vids?
Good to see some inspirational updates.
-
Cracking stuff. One of my 'Desert Island' layouts (plus Wibdenshaw).

These will see you right Scott:

You'll be on it like Sonic mate. I always come back to these when I lose my Scottish focus.
And this one for some earlier stuff:

Hi Scott
Hope all is well with you and yours.
I've enjoyed reading your thread, the transition from one idea to another, with continual evolution! I can relate to your thought process. I've made a promise to myself that I wouldn't start a layout thread until I had made full commitment to a project but yours is, as a principle, starting to take shape.
At least you're not flitting between Scotland and England for your prototype (unlike yours truly). I had particularly strong thoughts on developing a rural GNSR theme, late 60's to early/mid 80's. I was planning to include steam-age infrastructure as a first port of call and work forward from there. I now have a bigger set of boards to play with but will still try and keep with the rural, slow way of life feel. I can see why you are tempted to go a bit bigger and denser with all that diesel stock!
Keep us all posted on progress!
Cheers

Hi Peter
Great vids (well done to Grimley for making them accessible!).
Are you building up a selection of sound loco's now? The Crompton sounded in good voice!
Cheers

Great shots Dave.
Any stock, modern or heritage, looks good on your layout. The problem is if you decide on more modern motive power, you might need to put some 'knitting' up!
-
Apologies if this question has already been asked (sorry but I can't be bothered to read through 11 pages of this thread - the photos do it for me!) but will Dapol be fitting sound chips to these models at some point in the future?
I think I will be ordering a Kernow special :-)
-
Thanks pH, very helpful.
-
Quick question or two - did the Compounds ever appear in the upper reaches of Scotland (i.e. Inverness/Aberdeen areas) back in the day? And were any allocated to sheds in those parts of Scotland in the early to mid 60's?
Thanks
-
Hi Grimley
Looking good mate. The fleet is growing well too!
As for weathering it all - you know that Mr Bean sketch where he decorates his flat with white paint...? if you don't, well, lets just say a tin of paint and a firework is involved! But i'm sure you will make them all look the business if your last modern fleet of Tugs is anything to go by!
-
Nice tractor!
Happy New Year to you and yours.
-
Thanks for the latest updates Peter, brings back fond memories!
Here's a couple of images from the area featuring some interesting locos:

Cheers!

Or perhaps the Odemwingie Flyover could work...!Could always have an 'Astle Bridge' There were plans to name one after Jeff Astle, I think it was in the Cradley area, but I think it fell through (the idea, that is, not the bridge!)
-
Great collection again Arnie - good to see the updates. You can't beat a large logo grid!
-
Excellent work there. That last grid looks particularly impressive.
-
Looking rather good indeed! Hats off to you.
-
Cracking 'Goyle' Peter, especially like the faded blue appearance.
I think most 80's spotters south of Carlisle and north of Exeter can relate well to these machines!
-
What edition of Traction is the layout in?
Its in the current/latest edition. Worth a purchase...

Nice spread in Traction Peter. Got some cracking photos in there.
What's the story with the sheep on the 37? Was it a Landore 'mascot'?

Bostin' idea! Looking forward to keeping tabs on this.

Looking good Grimley! That's a big loco fleet to get grimy mind. Hope you've got a good supply of weathering powders and paints mate!

Hi Peter, hope all is well. I haven't been on here for a couple of years. Too many distractions!
Just been catching up with your layout and it still looks superb.
That image of 37428 gave me a flashback to when I was 14 years old stood on Shrewsbury Station! The heady days of the Cambrian Coast Express... brilliant times...
Cheers
