Steamben
Morning All, Does anyone know what livery coaches used by NCB on 'paddy' trains and miners train were? I've done some googling and can't find anything specific, though it looks like it was a kind of dark/off-red. If any one has anything better I'd be most grateful. avonside1563
I think it all depends on where it was, I've seen photos of greens, reds and blues used. Some places used old vans converted to carry miners and others used ex mainline stock so I think you can take your pick, there will always be a justification for it somewhere. Here's a couple of scans from the 1994 book 'Industrial Steam' from Ian Allan Publishing. 7754 at Talywain 1968 RSH 7764/1954 at Ashington Colliery, two NE coaches and one Furness Railway coach.
