Hi all
I have a 1959 ECML WTT which shows several Fish Trains running from Aberdeen and Hull to London, but, my question is how did the empty fish vans get back to the point of origin, there are no identifiable "Empty Fish" trains in the WTT so did they work back as block trains or in ordinary goods trains?
Ian
Hello Ian
The Summer 1961 WTT shows the following:
Train No.264. Fish Empties to Aberdeen. Dep King's Cross Goods 12.05pmSX. It was shown as having a 17-minute stop at Hitchin.
The same train number was 8.20pmSO (not stopping Hitchin).
Class C Train No.666 was noted as an 'Assured Arrival Service' for Hull, dep King's Cross Goods 8.36pmSX. It doesn't specify that it is 'empties' though.
There is a photo on page 88 of Peter Coster's,The Book of the Great Northern, Vol.1, which
