In addition to the last two vehicles (#38 and #39) recently announced here another vehicle is now available. Walter has just put the finishing touches on the tractor version of the (I type cab). It is now posted and available at the website Showcase Miniatures as #40. I invite you to take a look http://www.showcaseminiatures.com

Showcase do some nice vehicles (I have a couple of Divco vans and the GMC bottle truck from the second series - absolutely beautiful castings), but I'm not sure how well a semi-generic* '60s-'70s tractor and flatbed will sell, given the number of RTP Mini-Metals trucks around (although they are mostly '50s-'60s).

*I take it that it is actually an International from their reference, but not identified as such to avoid licensing issues.

I didn't think Mini-metals were actually doing any N scale tractor trailers at the moment - clicking on their pages doesn't show any for me - and they'd probably be an earlier era if they did do them

They have a few listed on the CMW site, but there are still huge amounts of them in the shops. The Mini-Metals International R190 was, I think, built from about 1954 to 1966 and so it is, I presume, the predecessor of the Showcase truck. Once you get to the '70s, there are the Herpa long nose and cab-over tractors. While they are filling in a gap, I'm not sure it is a high sales volume gap as there are RTP options.

I wonder what the sales of the GHQ Peterbuilt and Freightliner kits are considering they are duplicaing the Herpa models (albeit at a much higher quality).

[Now veering completely off topic]

What I'd like to see is a cab unit that fits the '90s through to present day. There is the Atlas RTP and GHQ kit for the Ford LNT series ('80s) and the Kato Volvo (current, but a serious highway tractor), but nothing much else. Of course, then we would need current trailers too - only Deluxe does 53s (and Roadrailers) that I know of.

For those doing moder intermodal, Kato is bringing out this http://www.katousa.com/N/Unitrack/figures.html and it will be significantly cheaper than the Wheels of Time Piggy Packer http://www.wheelsotime.com/pc-90-piggy-packer/
