Well, after that initial misunderstanding perhaps I could share a few thoughts for other potential newbies.

It is as easy to use as Phil says. After a practice scoosh with some water, I was able to produce a smooth paint finish much quicker than with a brush.

With a piece of foam under the compressor to stop it going walkabout, it just emits a gentle buzz. Nothing to bother the neighbours.

I prefer acrylics so used soapy water for cleaning but perhaps I'll try the Lifecolor cleaner.

Yes, cleaning does take a bit of time. I expect I'll have to make a pile of stuff to be done in a session.

I'll still be using my old brushes for weathering and fine detail. Plan is to use this for a good basic finish to my wagons and vans, and anywhere there's a large area that needs painted.  No doubt other stuff too.

Mine arrived today, but no cleaning jar - thought it was part of the deal. Assume a jam-jar would do the job well enough?

The van is currently being redesigned to make casting easier (along with it's resin chassis and roof for us N gauge luddites).

I had a similar problem recently - unmodified Peco points with feeds to Cobalt motors. Only some of the points produced a short-circuit, and only in one direction.

As others have suggested, I suspected the blade movement was out of sync with the point motor switch. Removing the springs in the points solved the problem.

Looking again at the photo now I realise I'd misinterpreted it. I thought the patch of white was flat ground, but obviously it's the face of a loading platform.

Anyway I've ordered a copy of GWR Journal 37 so hopefully I'll be more informed soon.

Just found this thread as I'm looking for inspiration for a new project and NE is currently top of the list.

Very impressed with your level of research so perhaps you can answer something that's been bugging me.

In the Disused Stations page, scrolling down to the fourth photo of the station it refers to the goods shed on the left

There appears to be some track in front of this building set back from the goods loop, and in the seventh photo there seems to be a van on this track. But the goods shed can be seen further down the loop in the seventh photo.

I can't make sense of it, hoping you can help.
