Hi Marc lovely work there , did you also use photoshop to make the signs on the building , if not how did you accomplish it ??I had originally built Ogmore Road as a terminus,
but decided to extend it, to add the ability to run through trains...
A bit like the original Cowbridge Railway!
However, this decision was made with only just over a week until the layouts' debut show
So I had to extend the baseboard, scenery, track etc
and build this dairy building in double quick time...
Although, not quite as quickly as Mr Downes seems to be able to model
Based on a warehouse building near my first house,
in the Splott district of Cardiff - yes, there really is a place named Splott
It was made from the usual slaters plastic card, and painted in the same way as my station building
At the time, I was quite pleased with the effect on the sign on the side of the dairy
This was the 1st time I used acrylic paint
The building was painted in enamels
But the sign was painted in black acrylic
with Letraset lettering
The black "base" of the sign and lettering were then distressed
using a fibreglass pen
Again, please bear in mind this was 20 years ago....
... mind you, my eyesight was much better then...

That is some excellent modeling I LOVE the floors he did , all of them are so well done :-)Hello, these are some of my dads scratch built buildings, they are exact replicas of Evenwood station in the North East.
Evenwood signal box, note the unusual roof.
The other side.
The signal box interior, still needs a signal man
Another view showing the levers
Now the station waiting room, the platform will align with the doors.
The inside of the main waiting room.
Another view with the fire place.
The steps to the platform with a outhouse and coal bunker.
Another view with the enamel signs.
Please click on the photo for better quality.
That's all we have done so far, all of these are 4mm oo gauge and are built with metcalfe brick card.
All of the buildings on this thread are of a very high standard, so hopefully this will meet the standard.
Thanks

I use colored pencils mostly works a treatThanks,
So come on then, with so many of you great luminaries on here, how exactly do you weather a printed cardboard surface? (which already has a hint of weathering in the printing but perhaps too uniform). I take it any sort of wet wash technique is out(!) and any past dry-brushing attempts just ended up looking like...er... well like someone has attacked it with a brush loaded with dry paint!

Absolutely fab pal I love the sign work on the side how dod you do that to make it look worn ???This is a warehouse that I built for my Westerham Station layout. it's been constructed from card & plasticard.

Man!!! there is some really amazing modeling going on here in both plasticard and paper. I like it all , it is firing up my creative juices to get cracking on some other stuff now folks :-) Thanks for sharing it all .

That is a lovely bit of work there lad i like it :-)You may recall I have stated I actually build very little, I work in tandem with someone who does. The following are all me, built and painted. Not bad for 1st attempts. The Woolie windows are all a bit wonky and its all generally a bit of a bodge but not bad. (of course all unfinished lol)

These are actually models of the one that i was raised in On Newstead estate near Barlaston I just had to have a couple on my layout :-)Old Knotty
I like the cottage but in years to come the old Council Houses will be a classic, now adays they tend to be reasonably tidy, but in the 70s and 80s it was not unusual for the odd one to look very over grown and a complete tip

Sorry 'bout that the scale is OO I use Peco and Atlas code 100 track and the switch will be analogMore details could be useful. e.g. scale, DCC or Analog, RTR track or handmade etc.
Smallest & Best might not be mutually inclusive!
As surface mounted point motors go some might suggest H&Ms which are excellent, but they are huge (and obsolete)!

Building a OO gauge Class B tank engine
in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Posted
I am attempting to build a North Staffordshire Railways Class B tank engine . I have a body and a chassis but I cannot seem to find and wheels , Motor or gearbox etc .I have contacted the usual companies for information but have either not received any answers or they don't carry what i need .
What i have been told that i need is two sets of driving wheels (4) at 5'6" and 12 spoke , also 2 leading wheels at 4'0" and 12 spoke its also says that i need a motor and gearbox that are no longer available :-( I have not done this before so i am not sure exactly what i need for this build and any help would be most gratefully accepted.
As i live in the USA it is hard to go get what I need so I have to order stuff by mail , which is a real trip !!!!! If anyone on RMWeb can help please drop me aline at oldknotty@cinci.rr.com , I hope i have given you an idea as to what I need :-)
Thanks Martin G Levallee
