  2. Dave, this is fantastic, keep up the good work. An inspiration to all of us, especially those on a tight budget, no excuse for not having a layout now. Regards Paul. PS the recycling credentials are good too....something we modellers have been a bit lapse in considering
  3. Hi folks The blue tank and pipework are definately for compressed air. I've sourced another photo with a large adhesive sign attached to the tank clearly stating that fact. Regards Paul
  4. Hi SP Steve You're spot on these look like a slightly smaller version of the pair at Lancaster. I've since re-looked at all the photo's from my survey and one view has a label on the blue tank which reads North West compressed air, self explanitory I guess. Do you think the 'older' rusting domed tank, at ground level, is part of the original system? Thanks for your help, kind regards Paul
  5. Hi Dave and 96701, Dave your photo is of the correct location, though much has changed, most noticeable is the demolition on of the timber canopy behind. Now back to the plot! In my recent photo's there's a cylindrical upright tank on the platform, central and behind both buffers, with pipework to both, all painted light blue. At ground level, on the sleepers behind and centre of each buffer, there appears to be an acorn shaped reservoir tank in rust finish. My questions are; how does the whole thing work, who built it and when, plus anything else you might think will be of interest. Hope you can help Kind regards Paul
  6. Hi folks, Working on new article, can anyone help with info on the pair of hydraulic buffer stops at the end of the bay platforms at Lancaster station. Any help much appreciated Paul
  7. Hi Chris Thanks for the kind comments on the illustrations, books are undoubtably very hard work but you have such a lot to share and there is much to be done, especially in encouraging new modellers of all ages. Love the models an absolute inspiration. Kind regards and best wishes for Christmas Paul (Lunn)
