  1. Despite my 1504 having several parts loose in the box when delivered ( Funnel, buffers, steps,) I have decided to keep it and rectify the faults myself, the reason being is the impeccable running qualities and sound that the loco has. And its sheer presence when running even for its small size However number 1501 had to be returned to the retailer, it had a couple of loose parts which would have been easily rectifiable but the valve gear on one side as loose and caused running issues, I would however be quite happy to order another if there are any remaining stocks!
  2. Nscaleamericantrains.co.uk are offering 20% discount on orders placed in January They do list a few non USA items also.
  3. The gaps on my 2 dont bother me in the slightest, in fact from normal viewing angles it is fine. only noticable if viewed from below track level
  4. I recvd 2 today. has any user so far noticed that the free running (rollability) is not too good and also a strange whistly squeeky noise ( almost like flange squeel) when running its continuous on both curved & straight sections of track Additional Info this evening. I removed a bogie from on of the Vans andfitted it to a handy Peco L&B bogie open wagon I got the same results Squeeking wheels, fitted the open wagon's bogie to the bogie brake and that bogie was silent BUT the other metal rimmed wheel bogie still squeejd Propelled the removed metal rim wheeled bogie on its own on some track no sound at all! Its a bit of a mystery The L&B Vans are otherwise very nice
  5. I think I have some Kato Unitrak 150mm curves somewhere If I can find them I will try it!
  6. My 2 Fairlies arrived from Arcadia Models this morning they are superb a real credit to Bachmann Europe Brilliant sound! and running quality. A couple of bits of info as delivered the decoders are set to 128 speed steps I also tested on a small Kato Unitrack test track I have here currently and they will traverse less than 9" radius curves 183mm (7.1/4" approx) was no problem
  7. ARCADIA MODELS received stock today and Tim says he has plenty of stock of all 6 retail variants minus the 2 that are in the post to me! Always best to telephone for a fast response 01706 882900 (Closed Tuesday) The locos show in Arcadiarail website in NEW ARRIVALS section
  8. I am looking for a Spectrum 0n30 0-6-0 industrial tender loco, this was Bachmanns recent release prior to the Trench Loco release. If any one has one they wish to sell I am interested I have searched all the UK stockists I am aware of but none available, should an one be aware of a stockist with them please let me know I am aware that I can purchase them from the USA, but trying the UK option first Thanks Steve
  9. Paint locos Green or Black and coaching stock Maroon please

  11. I was reading on here about increased pricing etc for the things we need for our hobby, but there are bargains around.........Arcadiarail had 3 Bachmann 0-6-0 BR (late crest) J11s in stock DCC on board, £92, now he only has 2! There are some other bargains listed also.
  12. Quick query re the C Class......... Does the latest release have tender pickups and are there Solder pads available for Sound loudspeaker use? Thanks
  13. To Be quite honest although we have purchased several SLW 24s, we have never seen the need for supercaps, ( should point out that the SLW 24s already have a smaller capacitor fitted as standard (info given to my from SLW in the early days), I have been digital since 1997 long before the concept of using capacitors to overcome power collection problems (and Bus Bars for that matter) I have built several ;layouts from Z thro to G in that time and providing track is kept reasonably clean extremely few power collections have occured Did the 2nd hand loco come from our friends in Sheffield?
  14. Yes my returned Green one was rather similar but the cab windows were almost total obscured and its yellow panels were much more messy BUT the buffer heads were totally untouched!!
