  1. To be fair it did start out cheap and there's the basis of a resonable loco there if you want to put in a bit of effort. I'm not sure what the person who put it together was thinking though...
  2. Don't get caught up in the bidding frenzy. O-16.5 NARROW GAUGE 0-4-0 DIESEL SHUNTER - Hornby CHASSIS - GOOD CONDITION http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/O-16-5-NARROW-GAUGE-0-4-0-DIESEL-SHUNTER-Hornby-CHASSIS-GOOD-CONDITION-/220870869601?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item336cee0261
  3. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item415f481f92 You don't say!
  4. Take one broken wagon body, two bits of lichen and give a quick brush with matt black: that'll be nine quid please,,, http://www.ebay.co.u...=item415f1666a9 And on the subject of rubbish (or at best spares): http://www.ebay.co.u...=item45fd468f48
  5. Yes, great job on the BRUTEs, I might have a go after all.
  6. I've bid on ones like that in the past few months, they usually go for around £15 to £25. This may set off a surge of these being offered with high starting prices hoping to cash in...
  7. You don't see enough BRUTEs (having said that I've seen the kits for them and they'd try a lot of people's eyesight and sanity).
  8. I got the impression the way it was being sold off cheap by various places last year that they were having trouble giving the Lyddle End stuff away...
  9. I think the distinction is that the kit has been used for it's intended purpose, to construct a model. The kit is by definition used, even if the model has done no more than stand on the workbench to be photographed. A scratch built model is new because although its put together form component parts the purpose of these component was to produce a new item. You can sell the whole thing as new, whereas if you broke it back down to its components you'd have to class those as used if you tried to resell them. However, a category such as kit built/customised, would be useful; car, aircraft, ship and military modellers, and people who build and collect doll's houses must have similiar issues.
  10. This one from Mr Costomuche would almost be reasonable if it was what it's claimed to be. However it's part of an Airfix/Dapol platform accessories kit in a merit box. MERIT STATION ACCESSORIES BOXED ok http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERIT-STATION-ACCESSORIES-BOXED-ok-/370528790154?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item56453ca68a
  11. The interesting thing is that that's not the 06, it's the Triang 0-4-0 North British shunter, on the same chassis as Polly/Connie/Nelly, which you don't see too often. Pity it's in such a state.
  12. Just got the Heljan British signal box, unopened still sealed for £2.00 + £2.50 p+p. It's the same kit as the Knightwing signal box, which is £12 to almost £15. Picked up the Heljan Goods Shed and Country Inn in the same condition for under £6.00 each a week or so back. I will now make collectors cry by actually using them.
  13. I'm thinking of offering to take this off his hands if he pays me, because it's not even worth the postage. Very tatty old Dapol/Airfix kiosk. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Railway-Station-Kiosk-Building-w-4-Windows-/270757235775?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f0a638c3f
  14. I don't want to kick things off yet as it's all at the fairly low end of things, so I may just be getting paranoid.
  15. I'm fairly certain that someone is using the private listing thing to shill some kits I'm bidding for. If the same kits turn up on this seller's listing again it'll pretty much confirm it.
  16. Mint obviously means bent rear coupling and slighty scruffy. Why would a collecteor want a bog standard Jinty with non-original components? In that state nearer £9.50 than £95.00.
  17. A particularly ugly commuter - derived from commuter + munter
  18. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-TRAIN-FIGURES-SCENERY-OO-HO-GAUGE-LAYOUT-SEALED-/180699217214?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2a12833d3e] Vintage-Train Figures [/url] A penny under 25 quid, for one of the later versions of the Merit passengers. There loads of the older versions, in their original packaging including the old matchbox-type boxes starting at 99p. I suspect on a good day you could get this version for £2.50 (though more likely in the £4.50 - 7.00 range. This really is trading on ignorance,
  19. Still looks odd as the buyer is in Austria and can't possibly have received the item yet....
  20. In real life wouldn't a) the loco break the back of the wagon, B) hit every bridge and signal gantry on route....
  21. I notice quite a few bids have been retracted. I think they're suspicious about the bidder with no history who's pushing the price up.
  22. Datingm 1969 maybe, nothing like 6o years. The whole thing's a bit odd.
  23. Everything he sells seems to be on the pricey side, and he's really taking the wee-wee on the postage...
  24. Some of the usual suspects: 1) Buckingham 2) Craig and Mertonford 3) Kyle of Tongue (has lead me to attempting a Blue Era Scottish location for a return to modelling after 40 years)
