I don't know what that particular motor is but it looks quite small - perhaps the same size as a Mashima 1824? If so, I have some for sale on my website. Have a look at http://www.littleloco.co.uk/p/specials.html

Thanks. That must be very time consuming! Are they kid gloves you're wearing?
-
Pete, how do you go about cleaning up something like this before undercoating? It looks very delicate for sand blasting.
-
I know it's been a while since you posted this, so apologies for dragging it up.
I'm guessing you have used the AG J15 boiler backplate for your model? Looks great, but how different would this be to one of the Dia. 37 or 39 layouts? Not a major problem, but I'm building 3 J-tanks at the moment and wanted to replace some of the supplied castings with something better and I'll be getting to that stage in a couple weeks.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
PS, I sent you an email from your blog about some replacement tender frame etches for one of my J15s. You possibly didn't receive it.

Any further developments on this? I'm sure it couldn't have stood still for two years!
Whose house is this, by the way?
-
I was looking at this possibility in 7mm scale just yesterday. Very nice location.
-
Excellent job you're making of this. I have one of these kits in the loft somewhere so I'll keep your build diary to hand.
-
When you say "oil finished" do you mean heating the up and dropping them in clean engine oil?
-
Cheers, the buffers are not springy at all really. I haven't glued the wire into the shafts yet as I still have to add the collars at the ends. I'm a bit reluctant to do this as I have a feeling I'll be soldering them together at some point. If I do solder them, then the buffers will go into the bin

I'll have a check

Looks lovely!

Notes to self: Ensure all castings are straightened

"All about Iron Minks"... by Mike Moreton Lloyd and John Lewis (amongst others)... published by HMRS.
Worth reading given that you are making modifications to the body and brake arrangement.
Already in hand, my dear man
-
Bon courage.
Thanks! Nice to have you stop by as your Mink was one of the models I used for reference, particularly when it comes to planning painting and lettering these. In fact, I'm going to have another look at yours right now...

You are being watched...
I didn't think I'd be able to hide away in here for too long... But glad you found me.
ABS kits are a good choice...
I agree! I have a box full of unmade ABS kits and still need more for my grand vision. Happy that I awoke some memories for you.
-
I'm sure I'd be interested in this, if only I could read it...
-
Yes, please do! Thanks Pete.

Pete, where did you get the door chain on the van from? Is this one of the details yo added? Looks nice!
-
That parting shot sounds too much like a 'goodbye' to me, but I sincerely hope it isn't. I have faith that all will be restored in time and a cracker of a layout will be born from the dust.
I will gladly make some space for you in the loft if you need it, there are no commitments or obligations attached. You can then laugh heartily at my pile of kits I have yet to build - considering I'm still on the first three vans since October last year and there are about 20 more to go...
Roughly where in the Metrop are you moving?
-
If it means the difference between scrapping it and keeping it then do it. It does seem a wee shame to introduce it to the saw, though.
-
Hello, have you got a website? What material are the kits made from? They look like resin or plastic but can't really tell.
-
Well done, despite the troubles mentioned. I was quite determined to come over to see you and Jon but we were summoned to Colchester Zoo for Littleman to entertain Grandma & Co.
Between feeding giraffes, elephants and goats (I don't know where they appeared from!) I was wondering how it was going with the layout.
I bet you're glad it out of the way now and I look forward to hearing about what you're going to concentrate on after the big move.

I'm guessing this is 4mm scale? I'd like a 7mm one of these but the only one available is from the elusive Steve Beattie
-
Good luck Pete, let me know if you need any sort of help.

I like your mod. I did the same to my J tanks. Not quite as neat as yours though
