  1. Completely forgot I made this. It is awful, but I like it...

  2. (Off topic) As an employer, I am amazed at the awful standard of CVs and letters I get from people applying for vacancies, and these are degree-educated people! (On topic) I find it equally amazing, in a positive sense, at the standard of 2mm modelling. I only hope that I can find a way of trying to emulate that standard.
  3. Thanks Nigel, that explains the situation very clearly.
  4. Don't worry, I'm not serious about sending another form, though our post service does like to lose things around here. It's only been a little over a week and I can wait another week or so before I contact anyone to see if it's been received. I'm not having two items of post in the wilderness with my credit card details on, some faith please. I was serious about patience though, bitten fingernails to prove it. There's no 'humour' button on this forum, and I absolutely refuse to use smileys or txt spk.
  5. Patience is a virtue that I'm not always blessed with. I may just send another app form just in case it didn't arrive - our postie's got previous form for missing post... Can I buy one from Chris while in membership limbo?
  6. This looks nice, and something to aspire to for me as a beginner. Is this Chris' chassis? How does it compare to the Wolsey chassis? (still not received membership docs so can't order anything yet and getting itchy fingers!)
  7. As long as energy prices continue to rise (almost certain) the installation cost will be offset against that, to your advantage. You can maximise its potential by converting appliances to DC (cutting out the inverter inefficiencies) and just divert energy return through the inverter. Space and water heating are your biggest energy uses in a typical household - running appliances, etc don't come close, providing you use more electricity during the evening, which most people do. The more efficient you make your lighting and heating, the more electricity you sell, reducing payback even further.
  8. This is not a criticism, merely an query from an observer, why are chassis kits not sold with everything you need to complete them (bearings, wheels, etc)?
  9. It's aesthetically pleasing to my eye. What I'm looking forward to is how you're going to build the track and pointwork. What method will you use - Easitrac or soldered PCB?
  10. Does anyone have a promo code for railwaytours? Thinking of going on the Bath & Bristol, 24 March.

It'll also be my local rail tour - but I'll be headed past it on way to Ally Pally that day - Bad timing!

Jon, thanks for answering this but I'm afraid I can't find nuffink. Any hints? Would love to go to Ally Pally again but if I can get a discount on this trip I'll take it.

  11. That looks super. Did you get your supplies (sleepers, rail & gauges) from the 2mm shop?
  12. Very nice Valentin. Can you say why you didn't like the Easitrac points please? Would you say they were not suitable for a beginner? Thanks
  13. Things you'll never hear a plumber say: "Yes, mate, we've got one of those in stock. We'll have you fixed in no time!"

You and all you own; now belong to him! :-)

  15. Is that true about the balloon? Genius if so! Very nice, trees look cracking.
  16. One more bid will push this lot to over cost price. I don't get it - do people not do research? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220943468983?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1426.l2649#ht_500wt_1211
  17. That's very nice. Looks bleak and a bit chilly too!
  18. I've been following your progress on this and really like your potted history above. Very informative.
  19. Lovely work there, Ian. You and Missy are certainly giving me a bit of faith that I can achieve what I'm planning. Waiting for tools to be delivered so just drooling over others work at the moment.
  20. Quite a clever design in that you've folded a flat plate into a gear case. Is there the possibility of making a smaller version with the Lawton motor and 'rolling' the gears so it's not quite as tall? You've sold one if you can!
  21. You should have included some cattle wagons for the reindeer!
  22. Excellent Model Will, I'm in the queue for something to model, if you're game? I have to find a chassis for it first though. By the way, I still owe you a picture of the Lima train you helped me with by selling me a couple GWR coaches. I'll get it out of its box one day, but with the loco it's over 6ft long - that's taller than me!
  23. Missed it by a couple hours... Didn't work first time
