  4. Keith. Like you a long term (25+ years) user of Approach. - User friendly and intuitive. Access - user hostile (Why did MS have to redefine all the standard DBase terminology). BTW As an aside my Approach still works even with this weeks updates. (I hope it stays that way)

  9. When I wer but a lad I can remember Manchester Corporation trolley buses were guided by small Fordson vans in the 'pea supers'. The vans had light bulbs all round the back (must have been packed with batteries) to keep the trolley buses under the wires. (Never seen a picture of these vans -but would love to see one)
  10. Bob, Probably the Manchester Area Saloon usually kept in the bays at Victoria or Red Bank - never saw it at Newton Heath Again as part of an empty parcels train for Red Bank 25042, DB999503 ManVic 010685

  15. Hi Derek, Glad to see you are back at it ! You mentioned your earlier layouts. Does this bring back a few memories ? expoEM North late 80's - early 90's ?
  16. Well It's all over now (says he foolishly) my stint as expoEM Autumn/North exhibition manager (loud cheers from the crowd) I would like to thank all those who contributed to expoEM North/Autumn this year. By that I mean the traders, layout owners, line societies, demonstrators, stewards and of course those who paid to see what was (NOT my words) 'Best selection of layouts I have seen at ANY exhibition I've been to. Even said by *4 members as well !' The winners of the awards were:- Best Layout Portchullin Mark Tatlow Malcolm Crawley Cup GWR Metro Tank Steve Lee Eileens Emporium Award Black Lion Hotel Geoff Kent There were quite a number of RM web members exhibiting/demonstrating and visiting but only one visitor managed to say hello - and I alredy knew him I am quite amenable to a good natter. Once again thank you
  17. Just got home - go to the M60 - closed at 10pm long diversion home via Stockport. However all setup apart from 1 Layout coming tomorrow and a couple of traders. I must really thank the exhibitors who braved the M6 today and the cross - Cheshire tour that they had to make after being diverted off the motor way. 7+ hours traveling is no fun. See you all tomorrow
