I'd go for the straights first, just to get the levels right.

  6. Should I take this pick up job in Sabadell this lunch? Could be dangerous as it's five minutes from the Code 55 stockist :S

I did Southampton to Edinburgh and back in a day in my previous existence (though the go faster button on the 'bus' helped), Tom, I feel for you! Good luck!

Count your boxes, times by 1.5 and there is the amount of ice cold beers you can justify after you've lumped them around!

  9. Just had a bogie mount sheer on my only 'large' loco, a Farish 47 that is at least 16 years old as I know to...

Etched Pixels, easy to fix, done it before many times in England... Getting parts over here in Spain is not as easy, been going through the local dealer lists seeing if they've got any parts, but as the loco has been written off twice already, I'm seeing about getting some custom bits done (as my other half's boss is wanting to expand the product lines he does...).

No need, Pete, the other half's boss owes me a few favours, and he owns a precision metal fabrication company. I'll have a complete set on the desk waiting for me when I get home tomorrow, and I might see if they'll rattle up some brass bearings for the drive shafts at the same time.

I don't know if I can resist... I've been shanghaied in to doing a layout for November, and found a place down in Sabadell that sells Code 55...

  12. moving tomorrow...amongst boxes...I hate this phase...

  13. "We can't sell you any of that, without a builders permit..." Looks like I'm breaking and entering a building site tonight then...

    1. SeanNeedham

      SeanNeedham

It turns out that the need for permits was brought in by the new mayor, and to get the permit you need to present architectural plans to the municipal adjuntement before they'd sign off on it (it took my father in law two months to get permission to fix a leaky poo pipe in the bathroom wall)... And it turns out, that the only architect operating in the region is... The mayor of the village.

10mm thick blue insulation foam. Anything that can be classed as a structural modification (including adding insulation to walls) has to be signed off by some bloke in an office somewhere...

  15. If anyone else around here asks my opinion of the incident happening in the UK this morning...

    1. SeanNeedham

      SeanNeedham

Yeah, just a bit frustrated on that... Everyone and their dog in the office this AM were thinking I should have some form of opinion on the 'incident', in the UK, seeing as I'm the token ex-pat... I was more interested in an accident report of a train crash in Barcelona yesterday to be honest.

  16. How can a village on top of a mountain flood?

    1. SeanNeedham

      SeanNeedham

I am, as compared to the village I hinted on, I am downslope!

  17. Has just been advised his PSA is now down to 0.6 following radiotherapy which hopefully means that the Big C is now just a small c and getting smaller everyday!

  18. Nipped in to the nearest 'large' town to get some varnish from the model shop... But the model shop has quietly closed. Three hour round trip to the nearest now... :(

    1. SeanNeedham

      SeanNeedham

Sadly, I think that the nearest Games workshop is over the border in Andorra, or even Central Barcelona, which would mean a five hour round trip... It used to be so easy in England, just nip in to town and job done...

  19. Anyone got ideas for a small, overhead catenary rack railway in no more than 800x300mm? I haven't!

      SeanNeedham

I don't know, I'm just humming and ahhing at the moment, and I know there are a couple of similar lines up here in the Pyrenees (which may be a good excuse for a trip out this weekend, to do some research). Reason I'm asking is I picked up a couple of small Fleischmann units (was going to rip the bogies out for something else) for not too much the other day, and they look similar to a B,B&C unit that I've seen photos of on a rack railway around where I am (just got to wor...

It's more on what to do to give it some detail, as I don't think it would look good with just a bit of track going up a carved face.... Hmmm, thinking cap engaged.

Lol! I don't know if they were related, but given the tendency of the critical data disk to be carried around out doors, in a jacket pocket, in a manual labour intensive environment, they well could be!
