  1. We can build you LBSCR wagons or coaches from either our own range or that of Roxey Moulding to order. Dapol stated that there was to much variation in pre-grouping stock to make it cost affective for them.

Hi Marc - that's good to know! Thanks.

  2. Shame , when I was looking at the models in the glass case at the Ally Pally earlier this year , the guys from Dapol said that they were looking at some coaching stock , wonder why they changed their mind.

Hmmmm. The thing is that not all of us can or want to build rolling stock/passenger coaches from brass kits! I certainly do not. It didn't stop Dapol bringing out a Terrier or an 08, given that both are available in kit form . I think there is  a market for both kits and r-t-r and I would be more inclined to buy a kit or two from Furness and 'have a go' if I had some r-t-r trucks, knowing that if I made a mess of things, I would still have something to go back to!

I hope Dapol are not bowing to any sort of pressure and will think this one through very carefully. There are a lot of LBSCR Terriers out there with not a lot to pull, and with a Marsh liveried one planned for next year that will be even more the case. I am hoping this will signal a renaissance for pre-grouping, given the relatively small amount of space it  needs. Guess we will have to wait and see!

  3. Oh yes, one wish granted. Marsh Umber due in round two.

Further to my earlier post, Waddon was £165.00 including the one year club membership-and the rods are correct too.

The guy who I dealt with was really charming and helpful.

  4. Morning all!

If anyone is visiting Telford they have Waddon on sale-simply join their collector's club and it's yours!

Also, ask about any chance of some Stroudley coaches and suitable pre group freight stock in the near future too!!!!

I was told ' it is on the radar'! The more of us that tell them or write to them saying 'go for it', the sooner we will get them! Great news.

Despite problems, I think Dapol should be commended for what they have done and are doing!

The stand was heaving at Telford....and there were examples of the terrier in BR liveries, which look superb plus first metal test shot of the 08.

Well done, Dapol. Now, about that D1! Lol.

  5. You mean like this?...

Crumbs - that is not good! Come on Dapol - everyone has waited long enough for this loco and it is this sort of poor packing/QC issue that will get a lot of people hot under the collar (and rightly so) very quickly. I couldn't see Lenz letting something like this happen with their rolling stock. I've seen a post on the GOG website that Tower are telling people to go and see Dapol at Telford to complain..........hmmmmmmm.

  6. I would like one in either LSWR or SECR livery but having emailed Dapol and not heard anything I'm presuming that these liveries are not on the cards.

    Marc

..and then there is LBSCR umber........................

  7. Hi Steve,

For those of us non-GOG members who cannot access the link... Can you share the secret!?

    Cheers,

    David

    Hi

Steve, who runs the little loco company www.littleloco.co.uk , is looking at costings for a J67 and J69, hoping to have them out in 2016. His blog on his website says to 'stay tuned'.

  8. Mine arrived at 9am on the dot, big thanks to Tower Models. I also have the two "spare parts" from the top of the tanks which have broken off in transit. Easily fixed, but a bit annoying. Runs well, looks great. I don't think I'll convert it to anything with LNER on the tank sides, but I may have a go at removing the existing lettering. I really only bought it to encourage Dapol to make another O gauge stream loco. Now at some point in the future they'll be working on an N gauge J72........just blow up the CAD drawings a bit...

Hi Confused. Not sure if you have seen this thread on the GOG forum - it looks like your wait for something LNER may not be so long?

(It's in the RTR section in case the link fails!)

Issue 0 was removed when issue 1 was placed on line - and in the same way, issue 1 will disappear when issue 2 appears around Christmas time. We are looking at a way to archive articles of substance in a searchable format.

    Best wishes

    Eric

Hi Eric. Many thanks for this info - at least it wasn't me going mad! Yes - that would be great if possible.

Just as a by-note, does anybody make carriage transfers in 7mm? The 'Circle' website shows MSC as providing a lot of items, but they seem to have moved out of LBSCR products.Thanks.

  10. The light yellow colour on the Dapol LB&SC does not look right at all, it should be the deeper and darker colour, I don't mind respraying the

loco but the lining is putting me off.

I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks the colour is wrong.I totally agree that it IS too light. Grrrrrrr.

  11. Yes, AnD "aids to modelling" - not kits. First the usual disclaimer, no money going into my pocket, guv. I've had some and made one up so far and quite pleased with it. you get a pack of white plastic sheets to build up in layers, i.e. Mouldings, panels with window openings, backing with window holes and drop light frames, sandwich sheet with pockets for glazing, and backing sheet with window holes. All the sheets are cut partway through (laser?) and the waste can quickly be pushed out. if you've ever tried to cut out a "cake plate doily" type of moulding sheet you'll know what a boon this is. Then stick together, paint, put the glazing in, and you've got a coach side with proper mouldings, which is the worst part of coach making out of the way easily and cheaply. There are also ends, floor, roof, and partitions in the sheet, but at some stage you will probably want to beef up the body a bit with some thicker sheet. Then it's underframe, wheels couplings buffers and general details to find and make. It's the cheapest way to get going with some decent coaches in O that I've found.

His range is for 4wheel coaches, I've had LBSC 5comp. 2/3class, 4comp. 1st, 3comp brake 3rd. They're labelled as Billington stock, but I gather it's just roof height and profile to chanGe to backdate to Stroudley stock. Just right for the Terrier. there's also LSWR 4wheel stock, good for The IoW idea, and also some GNoSR 6wheelers. He's a rare bird for shows, possibly a phone call, Dennis Tillman, 01329-286839.

The other way to get Terrier coaches is buying the equivalent complete kits, obviously a dearer but simpler, from www.roxeymouldings.co.uk. I haven't tried any of their products, so unable to comment further.

Will I be buying a Terrier? Well, the price is the most realistic pitch for a model RTR O gauGe loco you'll get. I dunno if it will take my curves, which are very tight; and jUst looking at photos, I have misgivings about the shade of improved engine green it's turned out in. Pity.

Anyone else have any views re the improved engine green colour? Whilst in NO WAY wishing to 'Dapol bash', the reproductions I have seen look on the light side and not quite 'orange' enough, but I know that reproducing photos can change colour enormously. Any thoughts, folks?  It won't stop me from buying one!

  12. Alphagraphix did/may still do card kits for IoW Terrier + coach kits, several versions, for £10

It's a low cost way of making some quick coaches, even if the results not great the bodies can be used as scenic features like the originals

He goes to shows & has a catalog, not a website

AnD kits do plasticard Stroudley coaches, they are sometimes at G0G events.

    Dava

Hi. Does anyone have any info on the AnD products Stroudleys or has anyone built any please? Hoping to see some you tube vids of the Terrier running before too long!

(And wouldn't it be great to think this may kick off an interest in late Victorian or Edwardian locos and stock.....D1, E class.....rtr wagons and coaches......sigh!)

  13. Gosh - I'm enjoying this thread Peter! I've always loved the 'Brighton line' (and late Victorian/Edwardian trains) and find this all very inspiring. Your comment regarding the colour of the D1 is interesting. I wonder if that is why some of the pictures of the anticipated Dapol terrier look 'wrong' and too yellow? Maybe the 'improved engine green' is a tricky colour to register?  Looking forward to seeing the passenger stock. I hope someone is going to produce some RTR passenger stock, given the interest Dapol has - and will - create.
