The embankment does sit well and it will help disguise the entrance onto the main layout area. Anyway, seeing as you are going to start naming the workers, where is Mr Dick Moby hiding?
The layout is certainly coming together & Richard would be very proud of what you have achieved 👍

The Light Railway has acquired some more infrastructure by way of somewhere for the Wickham and trolley to live when not in active use.
I must have been asleep when I cut the four rail pieces from my last full (36 inch) length of rail. Had I cut the rails about 20mm longer it would have been possible to manhandle said rolling stock onto the two sections of track that run into the building and keep the doors closed. However, on the basis that it will probably remain with doors closed, I could always pull the rails 20mm further out from the building and solve the problem that way. That would mean the building having to be set back by that 20mm for which there is (just) enough room.
Does Modelu do any painters?

I dread to think how many miles some of my earlier loco's have done round the garden now.

I'll have you know that in 1966 four of us went camping in a 1964 Hillman Imp - from Surrey to Dubrovnik!
You haven't said "Did it make it back"? 😁
My dad had one and he was forever in the car's engine bay, when it did run we had quite a few great trips out in it..

I have just had a look on that well known auction website and found this

It should be okay but I am not sure what DC controller that you are using. I have an old H&M Executive controller which has a total output of 2 amps and I am able to test any new DC loco that I purchase with no issues even the double motored Heljan loco's. You can purchase these relatively cheaply from a well known auction website. I hope this helps.

I have at least 75,000 colour slide scans of photos taken by us plus thousands of scans of black and white photos. Then there are many thousands of digital photos as well!
Blimey David..... You must be associated with the likes of the British Railway Museum, in all fairness if it wasn't for you and your parents photography we would have missed out big time.
Thank you soooooo much for sharing, very much appreciated....

I still think you should get the builders to knock a hole in the wall so you can run through from the den via the living room, dining room and kitchen into the garden. I am sure I can get your fostered trio back to sort the planning and then to implement the building work..... Let me know lazy Joe and relatives aren't doing much at the mo 😀

( yes... I now accept, one never has enough in this scale.. even with a small 7 foot layout . IT IS ADDICTIVE ! )
Steve,
That's exactly how It started..... saying to myself that I only need 3 or 4 loco's, a few wagons and possibly 3 coaches. O gauge is an addiction so It never ends with just 3 or 4 loco's.....😁
I recently replaced the shelving in the office and SWMBO came home and stated that she wasn't expecting the shelving to run all along the whole wall. I just replied that it was safer so the loco's couldn't fall off the ends then she said "that now there were larger gaps between the loco's"..... I just smiled and slowly filled the gaps with more loco's. 🤣

I have to agree with you both that the 26's & 27's have a special place with me. I spent quite a few years (1978-84) going to scotland especially heading for Inverness. In those days you could always wander around the yard and nobody bothered you. Although the Railfreight livery was nice I still think you can't beat a nice grubby one in BR Blue complete with headlamps.

I think you are doing a brilliant job and I have to agree with Rob .... It's amazing what you can fit into a small space and this is giving me quite a lot of thought.... Next stop for you, hopefully we will see this on the exhibition circuit.

The asphalt has come out really well..... it certainly looks good. 👍

I find the cost of some of these large XL sound chips a bit eye watering, when added to the cost of a loco itself.
The Dapol 08 will be a little cheaper as doesn't need to be an ESU XL .
Luckily, I don't need much more 'stuff' ! ( OR.......)
Cheers
Steve
Steve
You could always remove one of the motors from the Class 26 & 27 and just fit a smaller chip as you loco's will never draw too much current on a small layout.... Just a thought.

Hi Jim,
There will be a few subtle changes at first -
1) The platform & signal box will go to allow a road access & bothy for the wagon repair crew to operate from.
2) Also remove some of the buildings in the middle and either replace them with more NE based buildings or not - Not decided yet.
3) Also remove the crossing gates as most NCB crossings in the NE were ungated,
Long term -
1) Look at installing semaphore signals and repositioned signal box.
2) Replace road bridge with a concrete based bridge similar to one near where the layout is supposed to be based.
3) Longer fiddle yards if space permits.
Chris
Some good changes taking place, definately will be following with interest.
