  1. Not convinced that a fault recovered by reprogramming the firmware can be called poor decoder design. A fault in the code or programmer possibly. Allied to the fact that the problem was seen mostly by folk using ‘alien’ controllers shifts the problem sideways a tad in my view.

    (Alien = non Hornby)

    Rob

Rob,how many of us use Hornby controllers, maybe a starter

  2. My local model shop are pulling their hair out,I,ve now tried to  fit 5 TTS decoders into a Hornby  R3443 ,I use a Prodigy Advance2,when programing on thePrograming track I can hear it programing but when you try to run it I get nothing no sound no motion. My model shop says 85% of these decoders are returned to them with the same problem & they have returned all their stock to Hornby,Is this common or have this model shop just had a bad batch???

  3. Help,I have tryed to fit a TTS decoder to Hornby R3443 Flying Scotsman, which run fine with a none sound decoder I have now tried 5 different TTS decoders & have the same problem none of them will program,I use a Prodigy advanced. My model shop have no advice & are fed up of keep changing them they say almost all the TTS decoders they,ve sold are being retured. Is this a common problem??

  4. Or it might not be the original screw, I'm thinking dome headed instead of flat headed which might foul the coupling.  Did you buy the loco new or is it secondhand?  In any case it should be easy enough to pick up a pack of replacements at any hardware store; take the old one with you so you can visually compare them and get a flat headed version.

If that's not the problem, we can probably help with a fuller description!

Yes bought it new & it does have a domed headed screw will do as you say, thanks a lot
