Roxey do kits for 4 other MS&WJR locos - I particular like 'Galloping Alice' - the Beyer Peacock 2-6-0.....

Hornby "re-issues Nellie" - really?
Richard Jones commented on rockershovel's blog entry in rockershovel's Blog
The old Nellie/Connie/Polly could be relatively easily hacked into a reasonable representation of an LSWR C14, though the chassis needed a lot of work! I can't see that the new offering can be converted into anything sensible, but wait to hear why I am wrong..... -
Some sketches of The Brighton
Richard Jones replied to nest's topic in Pre-Grouping - Modelling & Prototype
Hi, For anyone who has interest in modelling the LBSCR there is an excellent resource on the LBSCR org website at: https://www.lbscr.org/Models/Digest/index.html I did a write up on planning Singleton in edition number 8. For members of the Brighton Circle there is a regular publication addressing various aspects of Brighton prototype matters - with a bit of luck, there will be an article on both the platform buildings and the signal boxes from me at some time in the future. Cheers Richard -

Hi Nestor, I don't think I had a thread on RMweb for Singleton, but did work up the ideas on the Templot Forum - you can find that thread at: https://85a.uk/templot/archive/topics/topic_1010.php?zoom_highlight=Singleton Cheers Richard ps I've been having trouble with my browser being hijacked off to some very non-railway related websites - I understand that the administrators are aware of the problem - trying Chrome instead of Firefox to see if that gets round the hackers! -

Here's a few more photos of my Singleton project - they were originally in an album on RMweb but, apart from the titles, it appears to have lost/deleted them all..... Despite retirement, progress has completely stalled! Cheers Richard -

Hi Nestor, Just seen your idea based on Singleton - I have actually started in 4mm/EM gauge, though whether it will ever get finished is a moot point! Here's a few photos of what I have done so far - all the pointwork is built and there's a few view of the templot printouts laid out in 'baseboard size' arrangements, so I need to get on with some wood work!. I am currently working up some drawings for the platform buildings and hoping I can convert these into cutting files for a sihouette Curio cutter I have 'invested' in... best wishes Richard - (an ex-pat Rya.....) -
An early CR horsebox, part 1
Richard Jones commented on Dave John's blog entry in Kelvinbank, a Caledonian Railway project.
I have aspirations (and started) on Singleton (ex LBSCR) which also requires a large number of horse boxes for race days - a number of SR constituent ones gathered up so far, plus a couple of NE examples, but I think the sands of time will run out before it ever gets close to completion! But thanks for the inspiration..... Cheers Richard -

Hi, Many thanks, for that - I see the track bed is thicker - is that 9mm or 12mm ply? I must try and find my copy of Barry Norman's book - I'm rather worried that I've left it about 10 years too late to get on with my project! Cheers Richard -

Hi, What thickness & depth of plywood did you use for the various elements of the baseboards - I would like to use this style of construction for my projected layout if I ever get around to it! Cheers Richard -
Back from the depths
Richard Jones commented on Florence Locomotive Works's blog entry in West Drizzlington: SE&CR 1907
Hi, That's not a Westinghouse pump, but Mr Wainwright's steam reverser (or possibly Mr Stirling's!) , though they do look very similar - the SECR was a vacuum braked line.... But very nice anyway - wish I could line out a loco as well as that! Cheers Richard -
Hi, If you contact SE Finecast they will email you a pdf of the instructions free of charge - they have sent me several SR kit instructions, both for original and revised kits. Hope that helps Best wishes for 2023 Richard

Just a thought - having got conducting wheels, did you consider going down the split frame route? Best wishes Richard

Ooo - I like the connection across from No 3 road to the loco facilities on the original - I bet that restricted the fixed wheel base of the engines they could use! Trying to remember if I ever used Holborn Viaduct back in the 70s - I can remember walking through the concourse.... Nice inspiration for a compact layout.... -

Ooh! Don't think I have seen that particular image (used in your header) of "Bodiam" at Rolvenden before..... nice!
