  1. I disagree, the T3 is a good looking loco but is not in the same league as the SE&CR D Class.
  2. I was hoping they would release 15236 as part of the Class 12 batch, as this was the very last locomotive built at Ashford locomotive works.
  3. Currently on their Ebay store they have Chesham and Ashbury coaches listed. Lovely photo and a great advert for them. :)
  4. Does anybody have experience of running CDC coaches? I see they've been listing RTR Met coaches on Ebay and whilst I've bought loco bodies from CDC before I haven't purchased any coaches. Thanks in advance.
  5. Super announcement, I already have a kit built version of 65 in SE&CR livery so glad an alternative number is being offered. Amazing to think that in roughly the last 10-15yrs all the preserved SE&CR loco classes have been made available in RTR form, must be the best represented pre grouping company? Anyway I'm delighted and grateful to Rapido for making the 01 available.
  6. Thank you. Is there a book or guide that supplies this information for different wagons? I was thinking of trying to assemble a wagon rake made up of the various different designs built at Ashford and its not always easy to tell which works made which numbers / batch of a particular wagon. Being an Ashford boy it matters to me that the particular model is of a wagon actually produced at Ashford rather than elsewhere.
  7. Apologies if this has already been covered. Where would one find out which particular vans were made at Ashford rather than Pressed Steel? I would like an example that was built at Ashford for my layout.
  8. I do have the slight issue of no longer having a layout to run them on and lack the space to build one in my current home. Still one day I hope! :)
  9. Got x16 SE&CR Genesis coaches on the way. Can't wait!
  10. I think so if we haven't had an email like the sort others have recieved.
  11. I loggedin to my Hattons account to check on the status of my orders in response to the RM web discussion above. I note a number of items I have pre ordered, including the 4 packs of SE&CR and SR coaches, now say sold out on preorder. It is dissapointing when people have waited for many years only to be told they cannot now have the item a few months before its actually released. I have x16 SE&CR coaches on order and x8 SR and I really hope Hattons will fulfill this given I've had some items on preorder for almost 2years. I'm hoping no news is good news!
  12. Great announcement by Bachmann, I have got the SE&CR Grey on pre-order with Kernow.
  13. Ultimately if you don't like the final product offering from a RTR manufacturer then don't buy it.
  14. As a SE&CR enthusiast (grew up in Ashford) I summarise as follows: Nobody is 100% sure the exact shade of red the SE&CR used on its 4 wheel coaches, and in the preservation era two heritage railways (K&ESR and Bluebell) have taken educated guesses based on their investigations of coach bodies that after being stripped back revealed traces of the original SE&CR paint / lining. The Bluebell's shade is darker whereas the K&ESR's is a bit brighter. On this forum the majority opinion tended toward the Bluebell interpretation whereas I understand Hattons have gone for the K&ESR interpretation. I am not intending to reopen this old argument as I have already had my say, merely trying to help a forum member.
  15. History repeating itself and wartime grey the only colour available / cost effective? 😆
  16. Another great announcement from Rapido! Can anyone enlighten me as to the time periods the SE&CR used all over grey or grey with black underframe?
  17. It is a great time to be SE&CR / eastern section of the Southern modeller. I have been surprised over the years a U Class hasn't been done, likewise the N tooling is very old and is crying out to be redone. Whether someone would be really ambitious and take on the N1 / U1 will be interesting to see.
  18. I do wonder how many of us in 1:76 scale would notice many of the dimensional differences. All I was trying to say is an E1 isn't a million miles away from a D1, whilst yes of course there are some differences like the cab and splasher positions. But then I'm the sort of person that didn't really care about Heljan's 33 having a slightly incorrect roof angle, or the Hornby 4VEP corridor being 0.00000000001mm out of scale.
  19. I'd love to be wrong but I'd be very surprised if they do. The H seems very low down on Hornby's priority list given the BR early R3731 and Southern Sunshine R3763 are both due for release in Autumn 2023! Presumably if another manufacturer announced a H they'd be released tomorrow.......... Anyway back on topic, very excited about a D1. Does anyone think if it sells well Dapol and Rails might make a couple of adjustments and release an E1? They were broadly the same except the Ds having slightly bigger driving wheels and the E1s had fluted conrods.
  20. Always late to the party..... anyway may I add my delight at this announcement. I hope the models are slightly tidied up and the minor faults with the D sorted before final production. That said though I'm prepared to accept slight problems on an RTR model as they would still be infinitely better than my attempts at kit building. I have pre-ordered the SE&CR grey, SR Green (with top feed) and BR early crest.
  21. That is entirely your choice and nobody is suggesting you must do so. I would say its more daft to boycott something because it's 0.0000001mm out of scale or the shade of colour is slightly too light / dark / not my interpretation. However those who have those opinions are just exercising consumer rights not to purchase something that isn't right for them. Note I did not say I was boycotting all Hornby products, merely their 4 wheel coaches. However I wouldn't consider my view on this matter de fide so I don't mind if people disagree with me.
  22. I was tempted by some of Hornby's SR liveried coaches but on principle I decided not to buy them and stick with Hattons. I really don't like this tactic of Hornby of releasing products simply to ruin their competitors. Of course I'm sure it happens occasionally that genuinely two or more manufacturers decide to do the same model, but Hornby seem to be going out of their way to release competing products which I'm sure they wouldn't have otherwise released. I used to really like Hornby as a company but things like the 4wheel coaches and the Titfield Thunderbolt saga have dented my view of them.
  23. Inappropriate according to the Bluebell Railway which is not an infallible magisterium on shades of colour. Not inappropriate according to the K&ESR application. Whatever you choose some will be unhappy. I have ordered all of the SE&CR liveried coaches.
  24. Delighted the SE&CR batch are due soon, though it may cause space issues as I have x16 coaches pre ordered (x8 4 wheel and x8 6 wheel)!
  25. I'm just hoping Hornby don't just go down the new release / retooled big 4-6-2, 4-6-0 locos as usual. I guess its based on their market research but the days when Hornby did new tooling like the H Class seem along time ago. I'm amazed neither Hornby or Bachmann have done a 377 as the livery options and wide geographic spread of these units would surely make them a decent seller? Not holding out much hope they'll do a 377 or indeed a SR U Class which in my opinion is crying out to be done.
