    Most of the things I order are tracked to the US using DHL. You can see quite a lot of detail including when it's in customs, cleared customs, left international hub, arrived local delivery depot, on truck for delivery, then delivered. It's as good or better than what I've seen internal in the UK.

    Aaarrrgh. Do I want an LNER one too? Rephrase, can I justify an LNER too? Rephrase, should I get, no rephrase, am I too weak to resist an LNER version too? Yes, that's the way too phrase it.

    Will we get an email notification when they are shipped with tracking information? Eagerly waiting my GNR version!! Paid up in full a while ago, but not sure it was early enough to be in the first batch.

    LNER one arrived today in New Jersey. Love it! Shame the smoke box door handles were broken off, but I found them, should be an easy fix.

    It's the LNER version, but I only have one on its way as I cancelled the Hattons order. Hornby one shipped yesterday.

    Well I put an order in direct from Hornby and cancelled my Hattons order yesterday, Hattons shipment turns up today so I tried to cancel the Hornby and go back, but you can't cancel a Hornby order it would seem. Oh well.

    Hattons told me this morning they aren't expecting the J15 until March!!!??? What is going on?? Sorely tempted to cancel my pre-order with them.

    Have to say this new date is a relief for me (ducks for cover!). I had to cancel all my pre-orders while she who must be obeys quits working to go back to college for a bit. I kept the D16 and J15 as these were top of the wants, maybe by Feb/March next year there will be enough in the coffers to spare for them!

    I'd love to order one of these, but 'er with the purse strings is quiting work to go back to college for a year (ish) so probably not a good idea (some of my existing pre-orders may have to bite the dust too). One thing I don't understand though, and maybe one of you kind chaps can help me out here. With the connecting rod/steps thing, how is it that it could be a problem needing the slight bend in the rod given that the scale is 1/76, but the guage is already smaller at 1/87? Surely this gives more room for clearance past the steps?

    Thanks for the comments on an Apple green LNER, I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed on one appearing in the range or as a limited edition sometime.

    Have to say that although I won't be ordering one it is an exciting event for a newcomer to the UK market such as Rapido to jump in like this with such enthusiasm. I really hope it's a great success (looks like it will be) and we see many more models from them. Wonderfully refreshing interaction with the public too! Loving it. Now, about those steam engines..................

    Happy to hear they're using DHL, I wonder if it would be the same if you went over the minimum for free delivery? Did they give you a tracking number?

    I'll offer an alternative opinion. Perhaps the compromises that need to be made to enable the models to go around model railway curves that are done without, in my opinion, affecting the appearance of the model significantly are reason in themself to appreciate the engineering required in the design?Edit: Of course the rear Cartazzi trucks could do with some more thought. Anyway, my vote for the best Hornby model goes to the LNER B17.

    Thanks, glad you like them. I made a couple more this evening. These guys area little Big to fit properly on the rolling road soi had to use a little license. The first is a BLI Pennsylvania Railroad Q2. Quite a beast. The next in BLI again, PRR T1. Dan
