  1. £400 now I wouldn’t be surprised, but £100 more for tinted windows and a auto uncoupling is a lot, set against the Accurascale model. Especially If both models are has good as their preproduction samples seem to indicate. I’ve never been brand loyal so if the pricing is closer I’d be willing to buy a model depending on livery. I suppose the coming announcement will be the deal breaker in a few minutes.
  2. Just wondering if spares of the cab light are available. Just noticed one cab light isn’t working. I have given the contracts and pins a clean but hasn’t made any difference.
  3. Well the 56 023, has had surgery the sound decorder has had the tank speaker removed by wiggling the wires and the twin speaker was soldered to the main board. The sound is much better more fuller. Not saying the speaker provided with the decoder was bad but there’s a noticeable improvement in sound quality. All back together now and I have to say when the 56 is ticking over next to the Accurascale 37 (sound lowered due to start failure problem) umm well the 37 is somewhat drowned out! I don’t want to say one model is better than the other because I love them both and have 2 more 37s on order.
  4. Yesterday running 37 607 going round all nice and load no problems runs into a siding. Stops in the siding turns on the yard lights f22 & f23 and all goes quiet. None of the Sounds respond. The loco still moves and lights work but no sound. Now I have previously turned down the sound level cv as it did the fail on start up thing but this is a new trick on me. Has anyone else had this happen. if I do the take it of the track and wait trick works it gets it working again. Only to do it again if yard lights and sound is activated together.
  5. Well at least I know I’m not putting it in the wrong way round.
  6. The best way to do this is pay in full, I didn’t order mine to late November/ December last year. Put the £30 deposit down then phoned Rails up fortnightly and paid the remainder in two lumps.
  7. Either that or Fat fingers and not reading what I’ve written. I’ve changed it just has you where writing this.
  8. This model is definitely growing on me, now I might be having a mishap with fitting the speaker, but the one that was fitted to the decor seems just fine. More than load enough with enough bass without shacking the tiles of the roof. The 56 looks just has good as the Accurascale scale 37 both having their advantages. But the 56 seems much easier to use sound wise. The start up with the ability to have a cold start and failed start is a lovely touch. Once the engine is running hit f5 and f6 throttle it up watch both fans running hit f5 release driver hold let her start to move press it again to keep the speed, repeat if when necessary to gain speed. I’m sorry it’s almost like being a kid again the model invites you to play trains with it. what helps is all the little noises it makes before it sets off. I’ve been interested in trains for too many years (steam for the main) but I don’t know how you drive them and wouldn’t know which buttons to press if the sounds where assigned to f buttons. Where the 56 does some of these for you. The 56 seems much more user friendly for the everyday modeler and wins over the 37. I well be voting the 56 as model of the year next year, and the only thing that might stop me is the class 60 when you release it later in the year. Which I was wasn’t going to get but I am now.
  9. Yep I have double checked that I was trying them the right way round.
  10. Well this one would need a little plastic taking off the plug otherwise it’s going to split the socket open or break something on the bored. I’ll get into with the supplier of the speaker to double check it’s the right one received. I suppose I could solder it into the pads on the board. But I rather not risk that.
  11. Ok what have I done wrong! now I remember the sound decoders where running a little late. went to have a look and found one that says for the Cavalex 56. Order it and it turned up today it came with a speaker fitted with a small but still rather nice speaker and all works, sounds lights fan brilliant. However I did ordered a (before the decorder) speaker mentioned on this thread and confirmed by cavalex. Looks like the one in photo a few pages back. But the plug doesn’t fit! In the socket marked spk.
  12. Really impressed with the speed of fix for a possible problem others are experiencing which I had only seen one person enquiring about. I suspect checking the loco is flat and square on the base with the bogies straight before the screws are tighten. will avoid coursing the problem in the future for owners wishing to transport their models from time to time. Might be obvious but in the excitement of removing my model I didn’t look to see if anything was fitted in a certain way to stop this. Ie dose the model have to be mounted in one direction or something.
  13. Well I’ve put in a 21 pin decorder and gave it a little run. Can only run the lights for now. But I was expecting that will be getting a sound decoder in the future. It’s almost silent and runs very smooth straight out the box. you guys at Cavalex have managed to pull off a excellent job. I hope you guys are proud of your achievement. I know I am and I only bought it! I have only two little niggles, well one suggestion really. the securing screws, could these be made so they stay in the cradle so us older folk (suffering from a slight hangover) don’t have to go rummage around the floor to find when they fall out. the other In all fairness I have paid in full for 56 023, only to find out I am going have to pay the same amount all over again for….. for 56 074! After I told myself ohh I only need one 56.
  14. Yesterday I got a email from rail’s saying just been dispatched. A little disappointed hoping it would have turn up yesterday evening. But at least I knew it was on ts way and would arrive on Monday. Unlocked the front door and sitting in the porch is a brown wrapped parcel. oh wow I’m over the moon, it’s just packed with detail.
  15. Wasted money on a rather poor paint scheme. Looks very amateurish and boring. Couldn’t decide on what colour the grills should be, ‘Red no, black no, white! What do you mean white!’ reminds me of the corporate bus colours of a 1980s in Leicester red, black and grey. The logo is just dreadful. The block font is dull as dish water, with the rather unimaginative logo looks like a trainee graphic designer was given the job at 2 o’clock on Friday afternoon. The poor thing needs rescuing and repainting into triple gray rail freight scheme. Or something equally handsome.
  16. You’ll be telling me next, I’ve wasted my money on getting a gallon of diesel in specially for mine.
  17. Sometimes a D’oh!! button is needed!
  18. Oh now then, those two models do look the dogs wobbly bits. I’m looking forward to 57 023 arriving soon. Going to need some more HAA’s
  19. Life isn’t fair, it’s also unfair to berate a company for life’s little experiences it throws our way (fault or no fault doesn’t matter). Accurascale products should reach you in perfect condition. After that the buyer takes responsibility for the product. The way I see it is a toy train is one of those things that falls between an electrical product and a very nice ornament. If an electrical device goes wrong you should be able to expect parts to repair it. However if you drop an ornament that’s just plain tough. So if the workings of the model were damaged then I would think parts would be available to help the customer. But the body is not one of those. It now boils down to how can it be fixed, Accurascale might be able to provide a body from a returned failed model depending. Personally my first port of call, cheek dose work sometimes as in it not a new part but will get the model fixed. Worth ago. Obviously it’s would be a second hand body and not necessarily Accurascale preferred response, but as long as the customer is willing to accept a second hand part Accurascale may be willing to sell. (If and when one becomes available) Otherwise it’s probably going to be eBay. Or dare, I say it DIY Jobbie.
  20. Maybe they have ran out, did you ask if they could get one in? Maybe Accurascale just used an image from the manufacturing process, for the parts list thinking people wouldn’t damage the body of a £200+ model because they’d be carful. Keeping small parts in little boxes is one thing, complete bodies is another and would soon start to take up a of space. Considering the numbers they might have to keep. They do like to keep the customer happy so maybe in the future ask again but don’t bet on it has I’d rather think setting up the production line for just a few of one livery would make the cost more than it’s worth for them. In the meantime watch eBay. now sometimes (lesson learned through life) it’s what you ask. Done it with Bachmann and other shops/producers mainly bikes but other shops too. . And goes something like this. ‘ have you got a spare xxx and the customer service goes and looks in a box comes back and says no’ have you a second hand pre used one and quite often a different answer is given. You ask for a second hand one and are saying you’re happy to receive a none perfect one for your money. Don’t know if there’s a law or something saying they can’t offer it straight off but it can work. I got a two car DMU body for half the price of a new spare. Worth ago?
  21. I disagree, most people are happy with their models, yes there’s a chance a model might be a lemon. But this can happen with any electrical purchase. it’s up to the buyer to check it’s ok. There’s a warranty to help cover this. Also an occasional run is always a good idea. I mean you wouldn’t buy a car or in my case a motorcycle and then stick it in the garage for five years. then just decide to go for a ride and be surprised if it doesn’t work. so I’d suggest find a friend club or get a yard of track and a cheap transformer. Have a play and I hope you find that the model runs perfectly.
  22. That could be said about any model made by any manufacturer, and becomes mute for that reason. All this comment does is make this problem tiresome. Which isn’t helpful to the individuals that maybe having a problem that needs help with. Yes some people may be having an issue. But most are not It also gets worse when the same people are repeating there problems on multiple platforms rather then contacting Accurascale themselves and hopefully finding a solution. If I was a sceptical person I would think there’s an agenda afoot.
  23. Has a LMS fan, and seeing the numbers Accurascale produces of the class 37 then no not really. Many of the main classes are to a decent level for a model on a layout at 3ft, we can forget the Pacific’s and black 5s the 8f is a model which needs a update but really it’s a 8f seen one seen them all. Some locos did have modifications that went to the continent in the World War II and later came back. these were seen in the docks awaiting overhauls but if memory serves me the modifications were soon removed. Either way no use for a Pre War modeller. Bachmann’s jubilee isn’t a bad model needs tender and boiler variations however I’ve done some modelling and see little point in asking for something I’m not sure I’d buy. jinty could be better, but would be a hard sell considering the amount of Bachmann’s kicking around. for me it’s the workhorses LNWR and L&YR please 0-6-0s and 4-4-0s(L&YR). But I can’t see them selling enough for Accurascale to bother with. a decent model of the Caledonian & L&YR pugs would be nice, say to scale. Obviously the Fowler and Stanier 2-6-2t might sell, but enough don’t know. oh the Fowler 2-6-4t is terrible considering the price Hornby are asking. Now thinking about it I might just stick my hand in my pocket for 2 or 3. standard cab, cut away cab and don’t forget the limousine. Plus the livery options LMS Crimson LMS black BR black and the one of BR green. Ohh I’m oh excited now! Dear Accurascale a Fowler 2-6-4t please I’ll have 3 LMS plus a green one.
  24. Well has I’ve just ordered a twin pack of the Revolution KSA Rover cube vans in Malcom livery. How about a Accurascale class 66 in the Malcom livery to match.
  25. The problem with starting with, say adding glazing is where do you stop. You say glazing. Hornby might say ok, then someone says sprung buffers it’s not going to add much or better lining, five poll motors etc etc. before you know where you are you getting into what ruined what was a good idea which could have worked well, design clever. where it was a good idea but didn’t tick all the different boxes that everyone wanted. it you want glazing, get out some PVA and a craft knife, clear plastic do some, modelling. Nothing hard about it and it might start you of down a new road that you enjoy.
