  1. Interesting take on this, I bet if Hornby had done this, there would be lots of frothing!
  2. I understand your point, but then why have they put the wrong way round, and used 7, instead of 0? By that logic, and following the normal convention, it should be 0-ng!
  3. But then it would be 0-14, following the long established, and easy to understand, method of definition!
  4. But why have they gone against all normal conventions, and called it NG-7 (or 0-7)? It's 0-16.5, they didn't rename their 00-9 models, so why do it now?
  5. I use a relatively cheap, basic sat-nav, but if/when I get stuck in traffic, I use Waze, as it uses feedback from other users
  6. If you need to use 'really fat bus wire', then you either have a huge layout, so the Gaugemaster DS isn't suitable, or you're using oversized wire! It's a starter layout for a beginner, according to the OP
  7. Just to add, a few of us go there after club (Mondays and Thursdays) so I'm probably a little biased! Also, I'll be in there Saturday night, with a group of mates, to celebrate Alan West's life', it would've been his birthday on Thursday, the 4th
  8. But when was the photo taken? They both could have been legal at the time!
  9. The Station, Knebworth, the other side of the road, opposite the station entrance. Community pub with regular variety of ales and beers, mostly local breweries, and good food, also food/drink themed evenings, with a good atmosphere.
  10. Most builders are okay with it, if you ask them first, assuming the stuff you want is easily accessible. When I worked for a loft conversion company, the guys would quite often help them retrieve stuff! One guy built a shed on his allotment using the old joists and rafters, and it meant we could put more stuff in the skip before it needed emptying.
  11. I didn't realise that they had the delayed function, but I agree they look a little delicate, and the same problem exists in 0 gauge with with respect to sloppy wheel/track standards.
  12. Ultimately, you need to create a list of pros and cons, that you need/want. I think AJ's are very discrete, but I wouldn't use them because they don't have the delayed uncoupling feature. I've used Linc's, which are also quite discrete, but again, don't have the delayed uncoupling. I don't like using Kadee's on British goods stock, it just looks wrong! Also I'm not keen on all the types that are different each end, which means all the stock has to face the same way, and more issues with using a turntable! I'll admit my preference is for S&W, as the best compromise (for me) between ease of fitting, flexibility in use, and looks.
  13. Flippems were designed to be an upgrade to Dinghams, to cope with tighter curves, and be more robust, and with the full permission of the original designer, Trevor Shaw, (before he retired due to health issues, and the GOG took them on) They are also compatible with each other.
  14. What these 'pushy' adverts do, is actually the reverse, they create 'negative advertising', anything that is forced on me in this manner is immediately ignored, and even if I want what they are pushing, I'll seek out a different supplier!
  15. Lets tell the full story here, shall we! I pointed out, politely, that you could have used a microswitch, I understand it wouldn't be easy, but not impossible. My reply that included that expression, in brackets, was a direct response to your comment, and use of that expression, which suggests you are 'Anti' anything that you haven't thought of, or done, yourself!
  16. No more than the point made (ad nauseum) that frog juicers are the best, and only, solution. I'm bowing out now, it's become a bit repetitive and boring, g'night.
  17. It would still be possible, above board, but more importantly, my point is that newcomers need to be aware that frog-juicers are not the only option, and if they're on a budget, it's only fair that they know about alternatives.
  18. I think it's a bit unkind to call the assistant working the tobacco area a fag counter! 🤣
  19. You could still fit a micro-switch to change the polarity, even on a manually operated point, so much cheaper than a frog juicer.
  20. An emoji/emoticon would have made that clear!
  21. Not forgetting Kathy Millatt and Jenny Kirk! (although I accept that they aren't mum's!)
  22. You're right, I hadn't noticed the lack of www! My apologies
