I doubt that we'll get a top-spec plastic RTR King any time soon.
Lovely job BT.I wouldn't be surprised to see a new RTR version soon.Did you use the original bogie as Comet don't do one.I used a SEF whitemetal one on mine.Still isn't finished.
-
Absolutely stunning Tim.Can you do mine please.
-
Its looking very neat Tim.You make it look far too easy. Where did you get the lever frame as it don't look like the Springside version I'm going to use.
-
Lovely pictures and its nice too see 1369 in its proper livery.
-
See you there Chris. It looks like its going to be a cracking show.
-
Delightful as ever Mikkel.I think Mr Quince needs to see a doctor. Where do you get your characters names from ? Dickens perhaps ?
-
The layout is looking really good. I can't wait to see it in the flesh. It will be great to see the completed station buildings and goods shed when you can complete them. Not sure but were you aware that they have recently demolished the station buildings due to their 'unsafe' state. What ever happend to preservation. I think the goods shed is now the only remaining railway building on the site, but I couold be wrong. All the best for the future, Andy
Absolutely scandalous knocking the station building down. They might need it again one day.Heartbreaking.

Lovely work Mikkel.I too have a DG kit to build somewhere,a Y3 fruit I think.I would like to learn the 'art' of whitemetal soldering as gluing them seems too easy. That book is one I really need to get though.
-
The perfect loco and number for the Kingsbridge branch.Very nice Kris.
-
Were any of the exhibition invites north of Bristol Kris as I'd like to see this for obvious reasons.
-
Thats a cracking job you've done there its ashame you are painting it black though.
-
Sounds good Matt.Any photos and who's static grass are you using ?
-
Excellent BT.A man after my own heart.I've nearly finished my rake of centenaries too but I need something nice and correct to pull them.Is that the Hornby King ? Does it cope with pulling the Comet kit built versions ?
-
Outstanding Mikkel.I wish I could 'knock up' something as good as that.I do like those Scalelink stairs.Got any spare ?
-
Mikkel.Compliments of the season.Looking forward to seeing further progress.Hoping to make some myself.

From the photo on Hatton's web site it looks like 2812 has the tall safety valve bonnet which is probably correct. Maybe I should have waited for this one and replaced the shirtbutton with the earlier lettering
2812 in this livery is fine until February 1947 when it received the outside pipes and so, probably, also the curved step. I would guess that it was repainted with GWR letters at the same time,
EDIT: I can't be certain from the photo, but it looks like the 2812 model may also have taper buffers and a lamp iron on the smokebox door, both of which are probably correct for this period.
I was going to change the shirtbutton for G W R letters on mine.I'm hoping Hornby do this livery on subsequent releases but they didn't on the Grange.
-
Fabulous research Nick.I see 2812 [shirtbutton] has just been released and as this is the number I want I assume Hornby have all the details correct for this version.
-
Kris,Is Sorley tunnel still accessible ? There used to be an adventure farm attraction with it .Is it still open.
-
I was sceptical about the use of 'Clear' in ballasting and I'm glad you've now added the pva mix Tim.Your trackwork looks superb and you don't want it ruined before an exhibition.I used Green Scene ballast and a 50/50 mix on mine and was very pleased although I don't have an exhibition layout.
-
You certainly know how to upset me.Its so sad to see the old branch now long gone.
-
I'm still building up the nerve to try a full Comet kit.
The body goes together quite quickly its the detailing and interior that takes time. The centenaries are lovely coaches. They ran with two diners in the rake, a first class and third too.
-
I do like the centenary diner BT.I built the Comet full kit a few years ago myself.
-
Nice to see someone else interested in this lovely branch.Where did you take that picture of the brick arch ?
