I am continuing to make a new layout set in Glasgow in an inner-surburban area, a contemporary ficional station inspired by Polkshields East. It will have mrk 3 and mrk 1 catenary masts and will have foliage and a background of tenements which I may paint on the backdrop. I am just working out the clearances on the slightly curved platforms using the simple but effective masking tape and a pencil method. I attached a pencil to the centre of my longest bogie on one side pointing downwards. I then ran the vehicle on the inside curve, with the pencil on the inside and made a line on the baseboard which gave me a good idea of the inner clearance curve. I've marked the outside curve too in a similar way, I now just have to be careful when laying the track to get a nice smooth line.

I am going to make a section of broad-gauge track on an old base board on a failed layout . The gauge would be the 5 ft 3 in Irish broad-gauge and will be done in less then two days which I might start this weekend, gawd beye

I am finally getting started on my new layout. The process of laying the track is a wee bit fiddly, putting the little scews in the track joiners annoys me a lot, but I'll find away to get round it. I am hoping I'll get most of the track beside the platforms laid this weekend, but I'll have problem's to make my own scale point's, because of those uni-track points which to me are useless, perhaps I'll have to find an alternative for those big bulky sections of plastic. Oh well, better not go on!, See you later all.

My latest layout plan is to create Glasgow Central in T- gauge. I know it is a big project and I might have 'bitten off more than I can chew', but if I start now I might be finished in five years time!

I have been looking for a proper non-kit, ready-to-run EMU, but despite trawling around the web looking at various manufacture's stock I have been unable to find any EMU's that aren't kit's or modified kits. I wonder if there is a place in the market for this kind of EMU?

In contemporary layout's people don't use overhead wires for electical current anymore, probably because of live wire issues over the layout, making it more risky to change point's manually and dring maintenance.
Also, I think, because of the lack of avaliability of catenary masts; there doesn't seem to be much on offer in UK. There is little to no choice, either you chose Dapol or electron probably the only companies to sell in the mainstream market in oo/ho gauge.

I have had to start all over again! The gruelling task of getting started on my Glasgow Central layout has gotton more tedious as I have had to have a re-think of my plans, owing to the fact that the 422mmx345mm baseboard was just too small to accommodate 13 platforms. I am planning to include the bridge that spans the Clyde until the tracks separate, so, I think the baseboard will have to be triple the size of the original, at least 1200mmx900mm.
