  1. Two of my favourite Welsh words: Elliw (The arrival of Spring) Hiraeth (Longing - particularly for home) .....and a four-line Englyn, about the Sheepdog: Y Ci Defaid (Thomas Richards) "Rhwydd gamwr hawdd ei gymell–i'r mynydd, A'r mannau anghysbell; Hel a didol diadell Yw camp hwn yn y cwm pell" .....and a rough transl. which can't do justice to the beauty of the sentiment, or strict poetic metre. "The Sheep Dog A fast strider, his coercion easy -- to the mountain And the remote places; To gather a scattered flock Is an achievement in the far Valley"
  2. "No teeth!! - No teeth!! - No........now what was it I was not supposed to do again?"
  3. Oh yes! Trains is it........
  4. I did for the first one (Tegwen); she was the Matriarch, and fully bi-lingual, but I found that any linguistic limitation was actually mine, as my being a native English speaker, I couldn't think quickly enough in Welsh for Sheepdog trial competitions, although perfectly fast enough of tongue, for farm stock-work; so, my second two competition dogs (Tegwen's sons from consecutive litters) were trained in English voice commands and on whistles, but whistles are generally no use around the farm, as your hands/fingers/whistles are covered in "unpleasantness" and not want to be inserted into your mouth. Tegwen in her element....... Tegwen thought gates were for sissies!
  5. What do they play if the Early Music Group are late.....
  6. A lovely sunny day was enjoyed, so a car-wash was endulged; of course it was sport to tease the car wash lads not to get too much water near the under-carriage "because of the electricity"......my straight faced caution, received with suitably wide-eyed apprehension. Despite the danger of electrocution......they do a lovely thorough job!
  7. That was my situation too, Bob. .......but sometimes, compromise can be a really good friend.
  8. We easily could have done the return trip on one 'home charge', Tony.....but I knew there was a free to use fast charger in the Council car-park at Brighouse, so (being a trainee Yorkshire lass) elected to re-charge to full whilst there, meeting Barry and Hilary. My experience with the Ioniq, has shown the manufacturer's mileage predictions and especially the computer "G.O.M" (Guess-O-Meter) on the dashboard to be reliable in practice; as it bases its predictions on many constantly changing variables. There's much more technically to consider when purchasing an E.V than just range; such as charging speed, battery voltage/charging current limits, socket type and battery heating/cooling system.....etc. I researched heavily before jumping in; and actually, didn't buy the latest model, but the previous model year variant, because of its superior battery charging characteristics. Bjørn Nyland in Norway, is a very well respected YouTube resource for unbiased E.V real-world tests; I found his experienced insights very discerning and informative before I made my purchase decision. 9. Our trip over the border to Brighouse, to meet the lovely Mr & Mrs Baz. was smashing; a super lunch and a really engaging chat was shared......Mum and I have had such a lovely day. Thank you Baz and Hilarity. Fuel for our trip was funded by ENGIE; whose free 50Kw fast Charger in the car-park had the High & Dry's battery, brim full again for the journey home, in just 16 minutes. I noticed that Brighouse is well served by free to use, fast-chargers; there's another at Lidl and a third at the petrol station.
  10. Road trip today....and it'll be Passports reqd. at the border! .....after all; Yorkshire is special and they might not let just anyone (like me) in.
  11. Could such a wine be returned (obviously not if it had been received as a gift) as unfit, Bob.?.....I'm guessing that the C.N.d.P represented a not inconsiderable expense. I've only had to refuse a wine once, that was in a restaurant; which made it simpler, as the sommelier was on hand and he was more offended by the bottle than we were!
  12. Don't keep us all in suspenders....
  13. We don't want you in a bad mood...... ......mine's bad enough!
  14. Bob, what are you doing; on Christmas day as well!......give yourself a break!.....We may only hope there was a First Aid Kit under the tree.
  15. I've heard of battery conditioners, but that's stretching the Comfort thing a bit, Stuart! .....Well done though!
  16. Seasons greetings and best wishes to awl......even those mis-Christmas-creants who have been abusing my continued bouts of illness and absence and posting proscribed content......you know who you are! ........take it easy on the sprouts, pies and pud, today, people.....there'll be a long wait in A&E. Click here!
  17. 1- Have you perhaps, been watching it during the pre-boiling phase? 2- Have you not been watching it sufficiently lately? John's clearly in his element, now.
  18. Crosshead? ......Yes, B****y furious!
  19. Oh, not another crank posting!
  20. "animus inanimate profanus" The inexplicable results of cursing at vexatious inaminate objects.
