I know I think I will drive back there on Tuesday and swap it and probably spend some more money there

Thanks for the comments, not much chance of modelling in the Caribbean on the back end of a ship. But now can get round to finishing a few models and finishing the workshop

Well currently trying to keep everything contained in a box file so far I have put 2 cooper craft mink wagons to one side and a few paints and glue.

  6. Friday is here, and a half day at work I may fancy a trip to Buffers this afternoon.

      WindyHale76

Well Buffers is a slight drive away, but now the wife has swiped the car I may have to do some modelling instead.

  7. Attempting my first Will's Craftsman kit and enjoying it.

    1. WindyHale76

      WindyHale76

I have enjoyed it so far, but the templates were slightly oversize on a few things and undersized door frames. They do seems to be a good stepping stone to scratch building

  8. Hoping to build an Urie S15 this weekend, just hope it arrives in the post.

    1. WindyHale76

      WindyHale76

Unfortunately not, it's the body kit from Langely but hoping to use the Urie tender from BH Enterprises to make it a more acceptable BR variant, rather than the short lived watercart variant which were phased out in the mid 50s. I do however prefer the DJH S15 kit, maybe because i still prefer whitemetal

      WindyHale76

Apparently HMS Ocean is leaving Greenwich tommorrow, before heading over to Holland for a few days. hopefully I'll be flying off before she weighs Anchor.

  15. I think I have convinced my dad to buy an iPad

    1. WindyHale76

      WindyHale76

It's good for some functions, the wife likes the speech to text function on it. I think the ipad 3 is still not bad but it.'s only a tweak on the the ipad2 really

      WindyHale76

Current thinking, I think it may be new iPad but if he wants battery life the ipad2 is probably best for him.

  19. The doc has confirmed that I have sunstroke - how? My first thought was trenchfoot.

    1. WindyHale76

      WindyHale76

And there was me thinking you had that Kangol hat for a reason, even I put sun factor everyday.

  20. I have discovered I really like making Airfix tank kits, they may be designed in the sixties but with modern painting techniques and a steady hand they come out nicely. All I need to do is make some dragons teeth and I'll be set.

    1. WindyHale76

      WindyHale76

I have seen them and I have a plan of action, using a SAM publication about Airfix military models. I've got a cromwell to build and an AEC Matador. I hope Airfix will one day make an M7 priest or a Sherman firefly

  21. The doc has confirmed that I have sunstroke - how? My first thought was trenchfoot.

    1. WindyHale76

      WindyHale76

I think there needs to be sun to get sunstroke. There was a break in the clouds today over Yeovil for about 10 minutes perhaps you got caught in that

  23. Hmm, 600x300 scrap of MDF, micro layout perhaps?

    1. WindyHale76

      WindyHale76

Go for it, depends on your scale, and how interesting your ideas are.

    1. WindyHale76

      WindyHale76

Well picked up a nice Horse and Jockey Pasty from Helston on Friday. It was fresh from the oven and was still warm when I got home.
