I 'thought' the 3 Litre had a longer wheelbase but then memory does play tricks I suppose.
The 3 litre had an inline six cylinder engine, driving the rear wheels, that's why it's longer. The same engine was fitted to the MGC. People expected a Healey type sports car, but the engine was designed for saloons, with 7 main bearings for smoothness.

I have just received an email from Ultrascale. If there is enough interest David would consider looking at doing a wheelset for the outside cranked version. Current interest level appears to be just me at present.
At his lead times for delivery I'm not surprised.

Shame. I just thought that judging by the picture, if it spends most of its time on 3 wheels...
Most fwd cars will pick up the inside rear wheel if you corner hard enough.

Who remembers Skoda's on the RAC Rally? The real one that is. Won their class more times that you could shake a stick at. Another area they were good at was trials like the London/Lands End. Rear engine, good torque and good traction. And the Skoda Rapide was a cracking car. Slow in, fast out. Just don't change your mind halfway through!

It's an American forum,so I would imagine one of their big diesels.

Faster than a MkX Jag IIRC. Back in the 70s there was a Ford Model B drag car called All Shook Up which had a bone stock Daimler 4.5 in it out of a hearse. I can't remember its times but I understand that it was competitive in its class.

1961 Daimler Majestic 3.8litre. Do remember the Majestic Major? 4.5 litre V8 Hemi engine. That thing could move.

Just shows how values have gone up. My Cloud has an agreed value of (gulp) of a lot of money. In 1967, I paid just £4,000 for her. Increased in value over 10 times! Frightening.

What I do find a little regrettable, though, is that the majority (I'm speaking generally, rather than about the specific cars in the pictures) now have Le Mans type bodies, whereas the coachwork would originally have been much more varied and, in many ways, more interesting. I remember reading an interview with Bentley dealer Stanley Mann where he bemoaned the fact that he was having to sell some cars with covenants on them to prevent the buyers from stripping off rare and original saloon coachwork, for example, and indulging their Tim Burkin fantasies.
I couldn't agree more. Another one that comes to mind is THAT Aston. A prototype DB5, painted red, was repainted Silver Birch, fitted with a weird sunroof and launched on the big screen with a certain Sean Connery. Nowadays, it seems nearly every DB5 is Silver Birch. The Aston Zagato though was a beautiful thing,in a rather menacing way. Not like the later ones.

Looks a bit down at heel doesn't she. The state of the track as well. Make a brilliant model.
