Since the last time I added anything we have been a little busy. We have 3 new wagon kits(see Below) and we have been designing the next batch of new kits.

    FRWC60 S&DJR/LSWR/Midland Railway/LMS/SR 8ton 2 Plank open Wagon
Between 1898 and 1912 the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway committee build over 43 2 plank open wagons for use in the movement of general goods. These wagons were original built with fixed sides and rated at 8 tons but after 1904 they were built with a centre drop door in each side and some were up rated to 10 tons.
In 1914 all of the S&DJR’s revenue earning wagons were split between evenly the Midland and the LSWR. All departmental stock was retained in S&DJR livery until 1930. Most of the wagons that were allocated to the Midland and LSWR would have been absorbed into the LMS or the SR. A few of these wagons lasted into early British Railways.

    FRWC61 NER/LNER/PO/BR R2-R4 10ton Coke hopper

This kit represents a R2/R4 Coke hopper wagon built for the North Eastern Railway’s Central Division between 1893 and 1910. These wagons were a direct descendent of the Stockton and Darlington Railway’s 8ton coal hopper and were basically a NER central division P5 hopper with extra planks added to the top. The R2 having 2 planks and the R4 having 3 extra planks.
From 1905 the number of R4’s were drastically reduced as they were either rebuilt into R2’s by having the top rave removed or sold off in to private ownership either to Gas, Chemical or Coke works around the north of England and southern Scotland.
All of the R4s had gone before 1923 with over 100 of R2’s passed into the LNER’s stock with a few living long enough in private hands to reach nationalisation in 1947.

    FRWC62 NER/LNER/BR Q1 Loco Coal/High Goods

These wagons were built in batches by the NER, between 1880 and 1900, for the sole purpose of delivering locomotive coal to the company’s locomotive depots. As larger capacity wagons were built for this purpose the smaller capacity Q1 wagons were, on the whole, surplus to requirement.

Most of the Q1’s were still not even 10 years old so the NER put them to work as “High goods†wagons a role that they were well suited. Later in life these wagons came back into service stock are again they were replaced by larger capacity wagons.

A large number of these wagon passed to the LNER in 1923 a few were still in service as loco coal wagons but the majority were in the high goods role. By 1947 there were only 2 of these wagons left in departmental stock.

    The next wagons will be:-
    S&DJR/LMS/BR 20 Ton 6-wheel Brake Van
    NER/LNER/BR C2 4 plank
    SECR/W^D/SR/BR 4 plank dropside
    Rhymney Railway/GWR 4 plank
    GNoSR/LNER/BR 17 Ton Brake van
    LYR/LMS/BR Gunpowder Van
    LYR/W^D/LMS/BR 1 plank
    LYR/W^D/LMS/BR Single Bolster

These should all be ready for the Gauge 0 Guild's GuildEX2012 in September

Being forced to take things a little easy this week has allowed me to catch up on a few kits which I have been putting of finishing.

Firstly I have managed to add the transfers to one of our latest kits. The NER/LNER/BR P4 hopper, it went to Telford unpainted and now looks pretty good full painted and lettered. Even if I do say so.

Next on the list was HR/LMS/BR Loco Coal wagon. This one had missed out on Telford as I ran out of time. Not a hard task to finish as it just needed the axle guards, wheels and couplings to be fitted and the transfers adding.

Finally something for me it doesn’t happen that often. Two Telford’s ago I bought a Roxey Mouldings SECR/CR 0-4-0 Crane Tank and things got in the way of building it. The kit is mainly white metal so the hardest parts so far has been cleaning up the small etch and taking some flash off the white metal castings. With the top just requiring a few bits of wire adding and the cab roof fitting, it’s going to make an interesting addition.

It's been a while since I added any thing here and many things have changed since my last entry. We have expanded some what.

As promised here are the 3D drawings of the first four Talyllyn wagons.

The two open wagons are totally 3D printed and just need their couplings and wheels. The slate wagons have printed chassis', brass floor and a printed top (2 bar slate has brass corner strapping).

Three more wagons are now in the range and are available as both kits and ready to run to order.
The first wagon is a Caledonian/Highland Railway open sheep wagon. These wagons were standard open wagons that were fitted with extension raves to stop the sheep jumping out.
The next wagon is a GWR Mica B refrigerated meat van.
The third wagon is a North British 4 plank open wagon the kit for this wagon will build three different wagons a fixed side, a drop side or a centre door (shown).

Due to a change of family circumstances we will be scaling back our business. While this means that we will be reducing the number of shows that we trade at, until thing settle down, we are not closing down and we are still developing new products. We will be attending Telford this year but after that we are not able to commit to going to shows, in 2019, at this point in time. Hopefully we will be able to confirm some show dates in 2019 but these will be reduced in number. In addition to the shows that we attend as traders we will still be attending shows with our layout, "Lowick/Scratchy Bottom". In the mean time our products will still be available mail order or from our "Shapeways” site and our design service will still be available at £20 p/h.

Also as most of our kits are limited additions, usually 30 wagons, once the current production runs are sold we will not be reintroducing them. Some kits have now already been withdrawn. Once they are gone they are gone!

Most new products will be introduced as "Selective Laser Sintered" or as ready to run. This has the added advantage as this production method is more environmentally friendly, as there is no plastic waste. Please note that "Selective Laser Sintering" is not 3D printing as it produces a very strong, but flexible, high definition product using a laser to fuse plastic powder were as 3D printing uses the technology used in an inkjet printer, to deposited molten plastic which give a low definition finish which can be very fragile.

Firstly Apologies to anyone trying to download new instructions from the web site. I'm having some IT issues with the laptop which contains all our instructions hoping to have things fixed shortly. Thank you in advance for your patience.

We will be showing our new Ready to Run Wagons at Reading show. If you want one please order before the end of October to guarantee you get one. Both are being produced in a small batch so availability will be short. Both are £150 and ready lettered. The first is a Midland/LMS/BR Bunker Coal wagon (used for road stone after 1935) and the second is a Midland/LMS/BR Shunter's Truck.

I bought the £20 version of the GrassTech Grass applicator in December and I've not seen sight or sound of it. Luckerly I paid with my credit card so I've let them sort it out. I now have two questions. Do the Large publications Railway Modeller, British Railway Modelling, etc which this chap has advertised with know he doesn't deliver? Secondly how many other people have been ripped off by this chap? I'm expecting the answers to be No and Lots.

Just finished the model for our latest brake van. Its a Furness/LMS/BR 10-12ton brake built from 1907 to 1917 and lasting until the 1950's. It will be available as a RTR from us, to order, or as print from our shapeways site.

Also, just produced these models for a customer. They are for a M&GWR/Irish Railways E1 0-6-0T

We now have a range of axle boxes, buffers and othe fixing available to be printed by customers on our shapways site. As we move away from white metal castings to 3D printed fitting in our kits this allows us to offer these parts for sale to the general public.
To access these parts go onto our shape ways site at www.shapeways.com/pregroupingrailways more parts will be added as we remove white metal from our kits.
