  1. A proper old car, one I've always wanted and one I rarely see. The MG outside the "Vine" pub in Wimborne and the Humber at a social club I frequent. Would love the MG but I'm afraid late middle age derriere expansion and lack of funds prevent!
  2. Now here's a proper OLD car, family popped out for a pub lunch @ The White Hart in Bridestowe we were on our way to Cornwall, nice Sunbeam we followed it for a few miles when they left, running really nicely.
  3. Unfortunately the railway has been removed but the pubs are still there, West Moors in Dorset had "The Railway" (now the "Tap & Railway") right outside the station and in Verwood "The Albion" was in the station yard!
  4. At the Garden centre the other day, looked very tidy and original!
  5. This little beauty was parked up while it's owner was having his jab and I was on the pitch and put course!
  6. 2 favourites of mine, as you say Gold just right in the summer and Squirrel for cooler weather
  7. Spotted at a local vaccination centre last week, with a couple of mates we used to have a tipper version for our Landscaping business.
  8. Thanks C126 that sounds right up my street I'll give it a try.
  9. My idea of a good curry is one with a bit of warmth (Madras strength) with loads of flavour, so hot you cant taste the flavours is a no no!. Until recently I used to spend 5 weeks every winter in Goa (good place if you like a drink, permit rooms are a bit characterless) My pal who used to winter out there would have sorted out all the best places, as used by the locals. One trip we went to Mysore and into this "Kwality Bar" (we had to teach them how to keep the beer and to keep enough in for us!) my pals wife suggested we try this dish with a name like a Welsh railway station! well we all took a mouthful and looked at each other as it was so bland and then looks of delight appeared as a wonderful array of flavours came bursting through! I shall follow this thread with interest as although we don't cook many curries at home, (we like different ones), We do have a very good cook book that we use when entertaining, so that we can put several dishes on the table. I look forward to seeing what the curry addicts have to say. At one time I couldn't live without 3 curries a week. Oh and for eat ins my first go to is a Dhansak! To finish you wouldn't believe the wonderful food that comes out of this kitchen, Health & Safety would have a nightmare but when you watch them cooking over what looks like a Concorde afterburner the bugs ain't going to survive!
  10. On the lookout for lunch? the pigeons seem to have disappeared!
  11. Just got downstairs with my camera and one of the juveniles turned up
  12. We've had a pair of Bullfinches on our feeders recently that came from the hedge and then yesterday this a pair of juveniles, rubbish shot with my phone through the kitchen window, will try and get a better pic later,
  13. Percy Daltons, that brings back memories, back in the late 50's my Dad used to take me to watch Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the terraces were littered with the shells from P D's nuts!
  14. When Marston first took over Ringwood what had been a very good session beer went downhill, amongst other things they tried to shorten the brewing time. The closest you'll get to the old Ringwood is Flack Manor "Double Drop" brewed by a former Ringwood brewer. I feel the future of good cask ale is with the small local brewers. I used to drink with Ringwood brewery's founders son, he could tell some stories.
  15. Well I've been getting ads for expensive motorbikes and Bentley Continentals, both of which I'd love but can't afford!
  16. I particularly like the first shot in the latest batch and having had their push & motor bikes, the BSA van, lovely modelling
  17. Went to the Beer and Buses event this weekend, unfortunately as you know it "rained a bit", however we had some good beer and travelled on a few grand old ladies our transport from Cowes to Newport a nice Routemaster A pal of mine had a Royal Blue just like the one in the middle One brave soul out there In the queue to get back to Cowes saw this and my favourite of the day, took us from the IoW Steam railway to Newport, very nostalgic! Would have been really good on a dry day! but at least we had liquid compensation, sampled several Island brews!
  18. And one for the American fans parked outside my house, favourite spot for shoppers who don't want to pay! Had a lovely growl to it!
  19. I've had 2 experiences like that, one in Mauritius, I'd already checked that there were no non drinking days while we were there! arrived at the hotel bar, ordered my beer to be told that it was "World temperance Day" ? so sulked off to the water sports centre (wife had gone water skiing ) to find the bar open, apparently the centre was shared with another hotel that wasn't observing the said "WTD" ? The other was in Goa during elections the barman said no beer but (wink) you'll like our tea, served from a lovely teapot into nice china cups!
  20. On our Wednesday wander came across this, very pleasant session ale
  21. More cars from the pub paddock A delightful runabout Rover 8 1L 1923 we followed this car down the road, tyres would be narrow on a motorbike from that era! and as we are talking old cars a De Dion Bouton 885cc first registered in the UK in 1949 but must date from around 1910
  22. On our Wednesday wander went to the Cricketers in Bournemouth (Freddie Mills used to run a Gym there) and sampled a lovely dark brew
