  1. I intend to put Flippem couplings on the loco.

I contacted Ixion but nobody there could remember what to do.

I am converting my wagons first whilst trying to gather both the information and the courage to dismantle what has been a fine running locomotive since I bought it just after first release.   I did fit it with a sound decoder and speaker but that was a long time ago and I followed the instructions from a magazine.

  2. I would like to fit different couplers to my Ixion Hudswell Clarke.   Can anyone shed some light on how to remove the body to allow access to the couplers please?

I know how to take the tank off for decoder fitting, but don't want to go bashing the body bits about without some ideas about a strategy!

    Thanks

  3. You could cut the connector off the controller end, strip the wires and connect to a source of your choice - through an appropriate switch of course.

I did that to connect the Kato points to accessory decoders.

  4. An old thread I know but thought you may like to know the Kytes Lights products are back on sale.  I ordered some over this last weekend and was told on Monday morning that they had been posted.   Arrived this morning - Wednesday.   Excellent service by Kytes and well-done RM, from the IoW to Staffordshire in two days despite all the current disruptions.

  5. I found with my 9152 variant that 12v dc was sometimes not enough “umph” to get the turntable operating correctly.

This was particularly noticeable if running through a turntable decoder which presumably consumes some of the power to do its own thing!

Upgrading  the supply to, in my case, 15v DC was sufficient to get the turntable working properly again - starting correctly and moving smoothly past each unwanted turntable exit.   The TTDec can handle up to 24v DC according to the instructions, perhaps increasing the power will help in your case too?

  6. I have a manual Fleischmann n gauge double slip numbered 9166 on the bottom.   I rather fancy using this on a developing shed layout I am just starting but am having trouble understanding the Fleischmann point motor numbering.

Simple question - do I need a “left” point motor or a “right” point motor?

If it makes a difference, the layout will be DCC controlled.

    Many thanks
