certainty covers more of the transition era from steam to diesel. I built one a while ago for an article in the April 2015 BRM, used a Bachmann chassis though 😂

Actually a Costi is a bit harder they had smaller boilers and when rebuilt that's why they were 8F.

  2. I have a split chassis Ivatt  2-6-2 Bachmann over 15 years old that has recently started to wheel slip mainly on points and gradients. I have bought a new set from Bachmann and installed them but the wheel slip still occurs ,take the body off and all is ok. Could the retaining body screws distort the chassis ? as that is all that I can think is happening.

    regards

I think you actually found the problem here.

Just do the screws up to hold the body on the chassis.

    No tighter.

  3. Is it me or has no one mentioned Garth Model Co on Whitchurch Road?

Lendons as I lived in Llanishen was my model shop, Mr James or the James in James and Lendon ran it and was always helpful and would happily show me what ever I wanted to see that he had in stock.

Dispute the fact my pocket money was only 50p!

James and Lendon was a bicycle (James) and model shop (Lendon), something happened to Mr Lendon and Mr James took over the modeling side or so the story goes.

  4. Here's an example of Grandfather rights at Ewell West station near Epsom on the South Western.

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bridge,_Ewell_West_Station,_Surrey_-_geograph.org.uk_-_1778314.jpg

When the platforms were extended the road over bridge got in the way so they dip under the bridge to create headroom and are only about 5 ft wide!

Trains that don't stop there go through the station at 70 mph......

  5. The problem here is that you are asking two smooth surfaces to stick together.

Glues whatever they are don't like that sort of surface.

So you need to 'key' them or make them rough.

Or a bit of rough sanding or filing should do the trick on both surfaces.

Also a 2 part epoxy would also give a better bond or stick of the surfaces than superglue.

  6. Actually none at all, they don't have a representation of the Auto Gear on the bufferbeam or below it that a auto fitted one has in real life.

Although you need to find one that has top feed fitted, the sand box fitted central to the leading axle and the livery of your loco.

Then it's just a case of a different numberplates.

  7. No clue at all.

Thanks to the pointed out lack of sheep......Bri.

Also what's my mum got to do with it Paul?

Although she lives in Tonyrefail these days, so not that far from that shot but a bit above it may be?

  8. Personally I think that Railtour has gone around the Quarry Loop from Llandaff or if you are a bit more modern Llandaf and if you are even older Llandaff for Whitchurch!

I feel I should also point out that in a lot of cases on this thread at best I was 11 and you could find me on BTM on a Saturday afternoon looking at what was on BBR.

Ah! the old days, mum was happy for me to get a bus into the city centre and then stand around on a large railway station, I was at best 9!
