Did a bit of railfanning today, heard there was an ex CNJ RS3 out on the local, caught up with it at Dunrite sand, struck lucky as a through freight went passed with a pair of GP10's as power, looks like the one on the point is fresh out of works, i like it when a plan comes together!!

Great to see a new overseas focussed exhibition planned, I wish it well. Annoyingly I'm not around that weekend, or I would certainly have visited. Here's hoping it is a success; I certainly like the idea of the various overseas groups getting together to help with the organisation and running.
i hope they do a American themed day, i miss the one day show Nick Palette use to do at Armitage!!

Yes, and if I had done it, or it was a genuine NCE one, it would be better. But this was a cheapo lead off ebay, as I don't have the required crimper, and used the original lead as part of the control bus on my main layout. 😉
But yes you make a valid point that people should be aware of. 👍
Kev at Coastal dcc make NCE flat cable to any length, work a treat.

Probably so, Take it up with the train crew manager!
She told me I needed something for the mums and children to find....
Ah, didn't know you were catering for mums and kids, domestic animals ie cats and dogs and birds, would look ok, but timid animals like deer etc would be frighten by any noise, my 59th and rust layout, had 13 cats, 5 dogs and 20 birds all blended into the layout, for any kids to find ,that if there parents stop long enough for them to see, JAAL

looks ok, re animals wouldn't the train frighten them away!!

what video editor do you use, looking for a newer version than i have
-
If you've 25 mins to spare ,I've done an OPPS video testing my revised switch list, quiet a bit of switching to do for just two box cars, off spots covered hoppers to move, switching off spot box cars about, they need spotting first, all in a days work!.

this guys done a 6 part video on decoder install on BB sw1500 similar chassis

looks like SW7 chassis, there not to hard to add a decoder, i did one years ago, just make sure you isolate the motor, might be a good idea while it's all dismantled to give it all a good clean and re lube, there's plenty on YouTube about adding decoder to old blue box.

I was pointing out the viewpoint of the majority of exhibition goers though, and getting the thread back on the subject, rather than my personal view.
You just need to look at comments such as GWR engines all looking the same by those who need an appointment at Specsavers to realise that many don't even have an interest in "other" railways in their own country. And that's pretty tame compared to some of the views about "kettles", "boxes on wheels" and "smelly diesels"....
Jason
Sadly there are a lot of blinkered exhibition goers, myself being an American HO modeller, appreciate any type of modelling, scale, steam or diesel, good modelling is just good modelling what ever type.

No. But if you don't really have any interest in them they all just look the same!
If you've seen one American, Swiss or German layout, you've seen them all....

That's you of my Christmas card list, must agree with NBL shed layouts can get a bit boring and loud!!!!

Short line L&M RR have a switching contract with most of the industries in Lakehurst IP, in case they need a car moved or spotted, to day there pulling some loaded box cars to spot empties, the loaded will be picked up by the Monday Conrail freight JS-1.

Ray you are a very bad influence!! Of course I just had to go look & see if they do them in O Scale, didn't I..?? 🙄🙄🙄
Yes, they do, $10CA a pair, left or right handed... I only need four.... 🤔
However, I am saved - sort of. They're designed for Atlas track with Code 125 rail. Being awkward as always, I would need them for Code 100. 😇😉😁😁
Back to making my own - one day!!😬🤐
they sand very easily or as take a notch out of the sleepers, it won't be that much

Just replaced all my home made derails with some from Yelton models in Canada, postage is $25 Canadian dollars i ordered 6 packets, it worked out about £5.50 a pack of two, there well made and work well, there are left and right hand derails, i replaced the brass wire provided with a cut down Peco track pin, means i only need to glue one end.

Well, great weekend at Preston ( as always) layout run well, once both operator got the hang of running it (due to the lack of exhibition practise) lot of favourable comments and possible two invites for 2025, so a win win all round, here's to our next outing.
