  1. Armin, Merc 345, Tamperman36 and Dave, thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. My next project is the Parcel Depot plank shown in post #17. This is being built for a competition on Platform 1 MRC (http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=843&forum_id=77). Looks like it won't be finished by the due date, so a rethink of this layout is on the cards. I'm thoughts are that the fiddle yard on Industry Lane can be extended and the Parcel Depot plank can attach to the other end. Good for two operators ! Cheers, Gary.

  3. Well, the exhibition is over and I can say that Industry Lane ran faultlessly, apart from the usual dirt/grime that settles on the rails, that exhibitions attract ! It was a great little exhibition, although there were some layouts that dropped out. Pity really, as it left one of the halls of the church fairly open. Regardless of this, there were a lot of visitors over the two days (Sat 9-5pm, Sun 12-4pm). Industry lane was lucky enough to take out the 'Chris Manchip Award' for the most entertaining layout. I'd like to say a BIG 'thank you' to the organisers and judging panel for this prestigious award. THANK YOU St LUKES MODEL RAILWAY CLUB ! So, a pic of the award... Cheers, Gary.
  4. Industry lane will be at St Lukes Model Railway Exhibition next weekend. Photo courtesy of Andrew Tailby. Cheers, Gary.

  8. I have been to Bathurst at least 15 times since 1992. The race there always throws up surprises. I think I could drive around there blind folded ! Cheers, Gary.
  9. The pic on the wall is of Sir Jack Brabham in Denny Hulme's 1967 Repco Brabham BT24. I'm guessing the photo was taken during the V8 Supercars first outing on the old F1 Adelaide Street Circuit (1999). I do recall seeing some of the big name drivers of the time there, as I wandered the Historic Formula Cars pit. Cheers, Gary.
  10. G'day Sharky, Pity you were time poor as it's always great to put a face to a name. Anyway, maybe another time. Have you started a layout thread in regards to your shunting layout ?? G'day Jim, Great to hear from you. Yes, I'm still modelling. At the moment I'm building the above parcel depot layout and a new HO scale American shunting plank with my son, Jack. The parcel depot layout is for a competition on another forum. Cheers, Gary.
  11. Has anymore been happening with the layout recently ?? Cheers, Gary.
  12. Hi Neil, Thanks for the kind words on Industry Lane. As for the parcels depot, it is kit bashed or I should say pieced up from the Scalescenes Large Station Building (R005). I cut and shut individual sections of the kit to get the desired results. It is mounted on 3mm foam core and the relief brickwork is on 1mm card. Cheers, Gary.
  13. The track plan of Maldon Market Hill is very similar to what I am using on my Parcel Depot layout see here : http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/114154-industry-lane/?p=2462743 I haven't started a thread as yet, but will soon. Looking forward to watching your layout develop. Cheers, Gary.
  14. G'day inglenookfan, The large layout you want to know about is owned by the Coffs Harbour Railway Modellers. Here is a link to their site, click on Construction : http://www.coffsharbourrailwaymodellers.com/soon.html As for the parcel depot plank I'm building, here are a few teaser pics... Cheers, Gary.

  17. I have just had a solid three days exhibiting Industry Lane and the Platform 1 MRC promo table. I would like to thank SMR Chris and another good friend Andrew (Chiefnerd - Platform 1 MRC) for helping out over the weekend. The layout and stand attracted quite a few interested people. Small layouts such as this are not that common in Australia (well, Sydney anyway), but it ws great to demonstrate that you don't need a shed 30' x 12' for a layout. Industry Lane gathers some interest from the public. SMR Chris enlightens the public about Industry Lane and model railways in general. A busy Industry Lane with shunting duties the core business. An unexpected visitor dressed in BR Blue...How could I not let Chris run this big blue, large logo beast of a 37..?? ...and I'm so happy that my layout isn't this BIG... There is more track in one siding of one of those fiddle yards, than there is on all of Industry Lane ! Cheers, Gary.
  18. Thank you Rob. I will take this as very high praise coming from you, kind Sir ! One of my good mates in Scotland wanted to know if I could build an 'industrial scene' railway, so I took up the challenge. Your layout (Peafore Yard) had given me a lot of inspiration to no end. It is an enjoyable layout to operate, but I really need an extra 6" on the fiddle yard ! Currently I'm building a 4' x 1' Parcel Depot layout/plank. I will start a thread later in the year on this as it is being built for a competition on another forum... Shhh... Cheers, Gary.
