  1. So I’ve had a good look at the Dapol thread. Seems the early 73s have the motor direction reversed, so the headlights work in the wrong direction. Olivia’s published a helpful fix for other DCC chips. I’ve tried playing with CV29 on the Hornby 7000 app. But no matter what setting (for CV29) I can’t get the Dapol 73 to run in reverse (ie the opposite direction) {so the headlight is correct} ! Anybody more knowledgable on CV29 than I am? Regards
  2. So fitting to the second batch of Dapol class 73 was easy and the lighting functions work. But just done a first batch one (73141) and installation is fine but the lighting is wrong. Cab lights on and the only function I can get is the headlight in the wrong direction! I’m sure I remember the early Dapol 73s being wired up wrongly? May I ask, anybody got ideas how to (remap CVs) to get the headlamp in the right direction? Not to bothered about the cab lighting, any advice appreciated!
  3. I ran the auto calibrate on a Dapol Class 73. It's working nice and smoothly after that. Cant say for any others, but looks very good so far!
  4. Just installed my second chip. The class 56 sounds are REALLY good! (Cl 73 already done) I'm loven the ese of use of the App. TXS is impressive!
  5. Very slightly, yes as there a dip switch on the board, which just catches. However, pins are fully inserted and works fine, prob only the last 0.5mm, so not an issue I think.
  6. Indeed, very easy (as above) I've got to tuck the wires in. Sound is good, way better than TTS, speaker seems fair once it's fitted to an (included) sound box. Now to get my head around all the CV's for motor/lighting!
  7. Yep! (Well, if it’s a complete clunker I return it) but I’m sure it will be good.
  8. I’ve got a Bachmann DP1, and it will be going for a Dublo DP1!
  9. Interestingly, I use Hunt Elite couplings on all my stock-was very pleasantly surprised when I found the supplied Accurascale magnetic couplings fitted to MK5s are exactly the right hight and firmly mate with Hunt Elite!
  10. Agreed, I find pinching with a pair of tweezers helps easy removal. I had a couple of separations on my 8 (2X4) mk5s but settled down now. Interestingly, I use Hunt Elite couplings on all my stock-was very presently surprised when I found the supplied Accurascale magnetic couplings are exactly the right hight and firmly mate with Hunt Elite!
  11. Small point FYI. But the two Limby Detics, R40048/9 which were going to be TTS are now TXS in the ‘23 catalogue…but not on the website!
  12. I use DCC, but I have a limited understanding of the tech elements. But I'm guessing, the sounds are downloaded to the App, played by the chip in the loco, so the sound is coming from the loco as a remote speaker for the App? So I dont understand how they (eg 73 and 08) will play on regular DCC?
  13. Just got mine out to try, after sitting in the attic for 6 weeks. I think it’s a super set, really well done and presented. However, the loco thinks it’s a kangaroo! Extreme jerking leaps. Looks like a systematic build issue. (I would guess the worm/cog is deformed) The loco will be going back! I checked my other S&DJR jinty, very smooth runner.
  14. Don't forget the Kernow special edition Sleeper and day coaches
  15. High? I’d say 5-10% would be doing well.
  16. Camera is brutal, it's flat so no risk of ripping at present. It's there, but not noticeable once on the track. Not an issue for me, though I know some others will be critical. One point that is improved is the definition of the band lines is finer and the graded shading of Great Western much better than the green block on the old models. Prob would be better painted, but at the price - it's £45 not £80 I think it's a fair compromise.
  17. Yep, there is (small overlap) on a couple, but not all. Ive got 6 ends, 3 coaches, 3 are perfect. Defo be prudent to handle carefully! BTW, the wavey lines are the camera not the coach!
  18. Super impressed with this! A real nostalgia trip! Hornby has taken real care to get this right!
  19. Overall, I'm impressed with the new MK3 First "fag packet" coaches. Combo of waterside and paint. Tiny lift of the decal around the door, but apart from that very crisp transfer. Clever compartment for the maglight battery on the underside. And very nifty buckeye mag couplings supplied - though I use Hunt. Limby R4326 for comparison. New ones are brighter!
  20. Ok thanks. I will check mine when it arrives.
  21. What are the nature/type of the flaws?
  22. Well, I'm influenced by my age, as I was 16 in 1981. I've got the complete set of Catalogues. And whilst the late 60s and early 70's have some great artwork and "inspiration" I'd have to say, overall, "Ticket to Ride" (1981) is the zenith for me!
