Well they arrived at 13.15 and I wasn’t even in the house so she answered the door and took the box in . I was in the back garden about to go back in the house when the back door opens and out she comes with a big box and she wasn’t smiling ! She wanted to know what was in it , I said maybe I had won a competition but she was wasn’t having any of it . I then said it must be a loco I had had on order but the supplier hadn’t told me it was coming (there were two in the box) She then demanded I open the box in front of her , I looked at my watch and convinced she that mustn’t be late and she needed to go , so off she went . Phew !
I quickly opened the box and got the two boxes out frequently looking out the shed door in case she had decided to come back but I was ok. Out came the two locos D9004 and D9007 Pinza the first Deltic I ever saw 60 years ago roaring out of Barnet tunnel towards New Southgate and Friern Barnet station as it was called then .
Even though my layout is DC I thought I read on here that the DCC sound version would work on DC but slightly slower so I went ahead and ordered D9004 DC and Pinza DCC sound . On putting Pinza on my test track on came the sound and she pulled away beautifully, I was really pleased . So off I went to the main layout , on came the lights and then she starting moving very slowly , I turned the power on full on my Gaugemaster controller no increase in speed not much more than crawl . I emailed Accurascale and they informed me that a 16 volt controller was needed not the 12v Gaugemaster I was using, so that was an expensive mistake on my part as I should done more research. I took the blanking plate from D9004 and put it in Pinza and she runs well . I asked Accurascale if they could send a blanking plate for D9004 they said should have been one Pinza’s box , there wasn’t so my plea has passed to warranty for them to decide if will send me one , I do hope so it would be nice to get them both running with Tulyar when that comes from DPS hopefully next . Will the wife be in for that delivery.
