Sounds like great progress on the show as well as the layout (and school reports) Good luck with starting the scenics. I've just finished the scenics on my 1' test-board. It's very satisfying to see a piece of wood looking more life-like after an hour or so of modelling.

Good luck with the electrics and scenics. I'm pretty much at this point with my own layout currently. I'm using piano-wire-in-rod point control. Its a lot cheaper and quicker than motors. You might want to consider it if you've never done motors before. I might be doing a tutorial on it soon because I'm almost ready to start installing it.

Hi,
Thanks.
Have you seen my other entries?

On the modelling side, many solvent glues intended for working with 'styrene (like Tamiya, Revell, Humbrol "liquid poly") won't work on the engineering plastics used in Peco's track, and possibly in the AWS ramps too? I can't be sure but some Peco detail mouldings are in normal 'styrene, and some aren't.Basically if your glue doesn't work, something hotter like Plastic Weld might work, or you could use superglue or even PVA.
Thankyou for your advice Will. I'll expect the poly cement probably won't work then.

I've been getting excited about exhibiting a layout for the first time. Lucky you, being able to organize an exhibition in your PE hall! Sounds great. These things take a lot of preparation (I'm told)... so I wish you good luck.

I don't know if the prototype had a plated body but the model you have has a wooden planked body. Still looks good though. One thing I would do is tone down the underframe slightly with a bit of darker brown/black.
Thankyou for your advice. I was thinking that the underframe might be a tad over the top too. Thanks again.

Hey Andy. Haven't looked at your blog on this exciting subject for ages.
I'd strongly recommend that you post this event as a topic rather than just on a blog on the British Railway Modelling Exhibitions page here on RMWeb. You'll get a lot, lot more advertising.
Looking forward to the next update,
Andy.
