Rest in peace, Alan Pegler. Railway Preservation has lost one of its legends today.

  This is indeed a dreadful loss... I shudder to think of the reactions everyone will have when more people realize it. He was a man who truly cared about preservation, and though he made a few mistakes, his heart was golden and, because of him, we have No.4472 today, the sole survivor of a great class.
  
  May he rest in peace - and may Scotsman be restored in double-quick time and back on the main line, as I'm sure he would have wanted.
