  1. Sadly it must have been telling porkies, as the actual cruising altitude from offshore Eastern Canada until decent into Dublin was FL400, with a "GPS altitude" of about 40,500'.
  2. I hope not, as the service ceiling (the highest density altitude where a small rate of climb is still possible) of an A359 is 43,100 feet. What was the date and flight number, as FR24 replay will let you check what Flight Level you ended up at? Steve
  3. Just to correct your typo, it was converted to a freighter 10/2023 at Chengdu Shuangliu. Steve
  4. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 One of these days we'll get a decent RTR Class 06, won't we Accurascale? Steve
  5. Inverurie had a similar layout until the line was recently "double-tracked". The lines through the station where bi-directionally signalled by semaphores controlled by the local signal box. Passenger trains would utilise the Down platform unless two passenger trains were crossing. Dyce would also follow a similar pattern, but my impression was that the platform selection was a bit more random! Perhaps it was a form of amusement for the signalman? Steve
  6. I've seen many comments over the years stating that magazine reviewers are afraid to be honest, as negative comments may result in advertising being pulled with an inevitable impact on revenue. It was great to see AY calling out areas that aren't great with this model in the latest BRM, as well as summing up by stating "I think it a shame it's not a little better". For me that's exactly where we are with the HJ 47, especially at this price point.
  7. Presumably cab lights on DC will remain on while the loco is moving and off when stationary i.e. totally the opposite of prototypical practice. I suspect IOW O2 you would be very much in the minority of wanting this "feature". What on earth were Bachmann thinking when they introduced this option 😏
  8. Oh no, you had to remind me of my long desired Highland Class 24, so cruelly teased in late 2017 when I placed my pre-order. I just hope I last long enough to receive it, something that is becoming less likely as each year ticks by. 🥺 Steve
  9. I too have been a fan of Legomanbiffo's superb sound files for many years. However I really enjoy the factory fitted speaker and sound installations in the Accurascale 55s and 37s. Variety is the spice of life they say, which is something I think also applies to sound files. Steve
  10. Ahh, then they clearly are in the wrong section of the website! Steve
  11. A couple of additions to the free ESU sound file catalogue that I've missed until now are for the Revolution Trains Class 59 and the Cavalex Class 56. If you also missed them, they are listed here LokSound 5 factory equipped sounds Steve
  12. There has been 13 issues per year for a while now, with the Spring edition being published between the March and April copies. Steve

I agree. I remap all my decoders the same way, with F0 & F1 being lights and engine sound as is the UK "norm". Then comes the horns on F2/F3. The next 7 functions all relate to "driving" of the model. From F10 to F21 I have various sound options, with the most useful being first e.g. flange squeal, whistle, doors closing. Then I map out the lighting options and finally any other options I'll probably never use. My answer to Chris is that there is no real standard, with each sound provider possibly having their own standard. The secret for me is to remap all sounds to my standard, which then increases my enjoyment when it comes to operation of my layout. Steve

Chris, when I first read your post I wasn't sure how to answer. When you say "manufacturer" are you asking about the model manufacturer for sound fitted locos off the shelf. Or are you talking about the different sound decoder manufacturers? Or are you asking about the different makers and distributors of sound files that you can reblow a decoder with? Steve
