  1. Fantastic work on the overhead catanery. I have just started a small project which is based roughly on the Woodhead line although nearer the Manchester Piccadilly side than yours. One of the biggest questions I was asking myself was how do I get a realistic overhead system. What you have created looks just like the real thing and your right about the variety. When ever I travel on the line I always find myself looking at the overhead equipment as its totally different from other lines. Keep up the fantastic work as I will be following with interest :)

  2. Recived mine yesterday, cant fault them they are fantastic wagons. Well worth the long wait and cant wait to get my hands on the Network Rail grey and blue versions :)

  3. Looks like I shouldnt have booked that holiday on Sunday, im going to have both the yellow Network Rail and blue and grey Network Rail versions :)

  4. Quite a few very interesting old photos on here. I especially like the ones of Guide Bridge, Dinting and Hadfield. Its good to see how they once were 20 or so years ago. Personally id like the Woodhead line to stay closed as I dont see any real reasons to reopen it. Also I much prefer it as a place to take the dog or go for a run then a place that I can travel to Sheffield on. Its a beautiful place that a railway would spoil.

  5. Quite a few interesting ideas brought up about possible services at/through Guide Bridge. I can see more services using the line through Guide Bridge from Manchester Piccadilly since work has started on electrifying it towards Leeds. I only hope that the line dosent extend any further than Hadfield as I belive the Woodhead line should stay closed. Id rather it be a place to take the dog or go for a run than a way to travel to Sheffield.

  6. It was a nice station to visit even back in the 70's as it was a signing on point so lots of station activity (peoplewise) even though the only trains stopping there were locals.

I think even if the Woodhead route had remained open by now Dewsnap, the stabling point and the 4 tracks would still be gone - once industry left Manchester the railways were no longer needed in the form that they were.

Guide Bridge still has some of that old infrastructure hanging around and it needs to be cleared and the land around developed then it will look better no doubt although still sad that was once there has gone.

Yeah theres still a lot of junk lying around on the car park side of the station. Its my local station and I use it 2 or 3 times a week, its interesting to see the old platforms just filled in with dirt and used as overgrown waste land. I dont know what they could do with the land other than enlarge the carpark or create a bigger Network Rail depot. Although moving and increasing the size of the ballast stockpile area could be a realistic option.

  7. Its such a shame to see the state of this station now, I would love to have visited it in its hey day when it was bursting with trains and passengers. It has been great reading all the information people have provided. I dont look at it the same when im there now :)
